Ruud
Hoi, My friend just got back from Korea and brought me the new Academy KF-16C. Strangely enough, he said it and the Academy F-8 were the only two aircraft kits in the store... Here's the main addition, the decal sheet: The kit seems to be exactly like the F-16CG/CJ boxing other than it only has the small intake with the P&W engine vs. the large and the GE. The decal sheet allows you to build any of the ROKAF Vipers (it says) and they give you the all the tiny numbers to make it happen (and the larger tail numbers too). They give you the choice to do the pre 2005 markings or the new ones (new roundels and tail numbers displayed slightly differently. I know that their are some inaccuracies with the kit, but it does look nice and comes with a lot of options (AIM-9X, towed decoy, WAR HUD, both types of bird slicers, regular or extended F-16C tail, etc.). later Ruud
Spooky 01
Looking sweet !!! Any (dutch) price indiction on their issue? (To lazy to check out LHS-site...) "Check Six....." Spooky.
AndrewS
Nice one Ruud. Thanks very much for posting this; I had no idea that Academy were releasing an ROKAF boxing, but I'm very glad they are. We might see this kit in Australia one day this decade. I'm yet to see the CG/CJ boxing in my well-stocked (I think) LHS. Cheers, Andrew.
pollie
I am a bit worried this kit will be only issued in Korea. Last year, at the Korean airshow, I picked up the 1/48 Academy F-15K (re-issue of their F-15E with new decals). That was a limited edition intended for the Korean market, and sofar haven't seen this kit pop up somewhere else. But I hope I am wrong though, would like to have that KF-16 kit!! Maybe one of our Korean members has more info.
Jennings
KF-16? The tanker version? Where do they come up with this stuff? A KF-16 is, by definition, a tanker.... J
phantom
KF-16? The tanker version? Where do they come up with this stuff? A KF-16 is, by definition, a tanker.... J Well. Yes, for the US.But the KF-16 works for Korea. Kind of like the CF-18 is not used as a Cargo aircraft by Canada.

Ruud
Hoi, The plastic looks good. Not pebbly at all in my box. I did notice that the decal sheet has black bands for the missiles instead of brown. The decal sheet does include decals for at least some of the weapons not meant for this build. The AIM-9X and i think the JDAM decals are included. There is a whole mess of weapons decals, so one would have to map them out to see what other ones would be left over after doing the weapons called for (AIM-9M, AIM-120, and AGM-88). The decal sheet is a bit wasteful in how they offer you the different aircraft numbers. But i guess they are trying to a.) fill the sheet and b.) make it easier on the modeler. They are nice enough to include some extra "walkway" decals as well. Not sure on the price in Holland, but in Korea it cost approximately US$13.70!!!! Here they retail over $28 right? Chicken at 8:00AM??? alrighty then. later Ruud (edit) well upon further review the brown bands for the missiles are brown, very very dark brown, but at least not black. Jennings
Chicken at 8:00AM??? alrighty then. You have obviously never visited the southern US. Chicken biscuits (American biscuits, not cookies) are a staple, as are biscuits with cream sausage gravy on them. Keep eating it - it keeps me in a job! J (RN)
cvrle
Looks nice! I always did prefer the Korea-camo to the original USAF one... And with the decals by cartgraf, there's no need to source aftermarket shhets for an korean bird. I just hope Luckymodel gets them soon :D
Ruud
Hoi, I opened up the bag with the main fuselage in it... and the parts are a little pebbly. It did not look or feel like it when they were in the bag, but upon taking them out. The sprue is nice and smooth though... later Ruud
Tomcat RIO
wow that's very fast! i didn't even get news that they were releasing it so soon! guess my prediction is correct then, that a small mouth and PW engine would come out. wonder how nice will it fit into the rest. i've already finished their other CG by the way, and she is looking for many companions. hope you could post pics of the new sprue as well many thanks! Ruud
Hoi Tomcat Rio, http://data4.primeportal.net/models/thomas...my_17_of_31.jpg My camera is missing. But the picture above shows both intake sprues. Basically they just added a little part that goes under the intake chin for the KF-16C's that have an additional/updated/new? ECM Looking at the kit more and more, the gear and gear bays look great. From what i see easily the best detailed in this scale. They even include the hydraulic cylinder that retracts the nose gear. The cockpit looks very nice. Strangely enough the instrument panel is soft on detail while the sides and seat are the opposite. The light on top of the tail is a separate clear piece (remember this is 1/72) yet they do not seem to include the L shaped scoop next to the intake. later Ruud
Lancer512
I just received my Academy KF-16C kit from Austria. Looks better than the RoG kit, but I haven't tried the fit of parts. The surface is not as shiny as the Hasegawa kits, it is more like satin, maybe compareable to Italeri. But much finer detail!
