drhornii
With the upcoming "Trash hauler" GB, I am trying to gather a list of C-130 decal manufacturers for all C-130 versions in 1/144. I am assuming if it is available in 1/144, it will be available in 1/72 & 1/48. Oh yea, do not want to forget the 1/200...
ikar
I think you're going to have to just patch together markings from other sheets and kits, especailly in 1/200th.
Jennings
I've been seriously contemplating some 1/144 international Herk decals, simply because there are some I want to build that nobody seems to want to do decals for. Would there be interest in such a project?? J

Would there be interest in such a project??J Jennings, just the one I was expecting to chime in :D With the Minicraft offering, I bet international Herks will sell well. I plan on making a US bird, a C-130A "Blindbat" that my dad flew. The only thing I would need to make is white tail codes & use the kit decals. With all the nose art going on, especially DS era, & OIF, those decals would be great. I would love to the Oklahoma ANG C-130 (no longer around) with Indian head tail flash made. I have some good photos, I was going to try to get someone to make them. There is also a cool nose art of the OKC birds, one with a South Park, "one weekend a month my ***". I have a photo of that AC taken in 2007 right before they were disbanded.

gmat
Microscale had a decal sheet 72-194, Hercules #1, which allowed you to do a C-130E from the 314th TAW, Thunderbird support aircraft 14, white LK 64-588, 36th TAS/62MAW C-130E, small white USAF 37783, SEA camo with MAC band, C-130A, 60491, NM with arctic red tail and wing tips, large 491 on the nose. (misidentified in the instruction as a C-130B) It also has decals for a WC-130H, 50972, 815th WRS/920th WRG, AFRES, and HC-130N, 50829, 305 ARRS, AFRES, in the grey scheme. The WC-130H is shown in error as an HC-130H with nose tines and rescue band on the tail. The HC-130N should have had the AFRES badge on the rear fuselage, not the MAC badge. Microscale replicated it in 1/144th Scale. I have it but on my copy, the dark blue was offset rendering the insignias (AF Reserve, 314th TAW, MAC and 62nd MAW badges pretty much unusable. Hasegawa reissued the 1/140th(?) Revell C-130A kit as a 1/144th C-130H , 401 Squadron with JASDF 40th Anniversary markings. Don't know if the decals are 1/144th or 1/140th. Don't have the kit. They also released it in 1/200 scale. Try decals for civil airlines for L-100s. Not very useful, but hope that this is of some use. Best wishes, Grant
phantom
Canmilair does all 4 (or 5) Canadian styles of Herc markings. In 1/144 and every other scale too. Leading Edge has some nice looking 1/72 scale ones coming out soon.
Trash hauler
Jennings, I would definitely be purchasing several of your sheets if you decide to pop them. The C-130 has been around for approximately 54 years, and there are PLENTY of neat schemes out there that no one will touch. Although the Minicraft kit may have a few problems, it really is a nice kit, although a little pricey. We DEFINITELY need more Herc markings from any countries. Please keep us advised if you do decide to go ahead with this project. Take it easy....................Bruce

ARK HERKY LOAD
Just wondering if anyone knew if the new 1/144 scale Minicraft C-130J model that Minicraft is showing on there web site is really the -30 J? The picture is a stretch, but just wondering if they are really doing a stretch. If so I am trying to work on getting someone to do some Little Rock markings for the new Commanders J model. And maybe a few others.
ReiRei0
Jennings; I'd definitely buy any 1/144 sheet that included VNAF C-130As, and would likely buy one that included NASA C-130s.
Mike J. Idacavage
ReiRei0: No need to wait until Jennings is able to produce NASA C-130 decals in 1/144. Greg at Draw Decals already has these availabe: http://www.drawdecal.com/nasa/nasamain.htm Draw Decals are excellent . In fact I am working on a model now that will use one of their decals. Have fun modeling! Mike Jennings;I'd definitely buy any 1/144 sheet that included VNAF C-130As, and would likely buy one that included NASA C-130s.
ikar
A stretch model would be great. I remember Saturn C-130s comming into Dover every so often. We had one get damaged when they tried loading a C-5 engine without the milk-stool under the tail ramp. When the aircraft started to take the weight from the K-loader, the tail came down and hit the engine. I agree that LittleRock "E" and "H" trash hauler decals are needed. The Migrant
Isradecals do a C-130 set with markings and stencils of the Egyptian, Jordanian, Emirates, Libyan, Moroccan, Saudi and Israeli Air Forces. It's a nice set too.

You always got to remember that milk stool. It is not fun to forget to put one in or even forget to take one with you TDY, not that have ever done that. ha ha Edited December 29, 2008 by ARK HERKY LOAD
