  1. The Thule Monitoring Mission was also a chrome dome route that flew a figure 8 pattern over Baffin Bay. In January 1968, a B-52G was lost just west of Thule as a result of a fire onboard the aircraft. The ensuing crash and fire incinerated the 4 bombs that were on the bomber. A very large cleanup effort that lasted until September of that year and cost over $9 million in 1968 dollars. It was this crash that ended Operation Chrome Dome.
  2. Tried to PM but your inbox appears full. PM me your snail mail address and I'll drop several in the mail for you.
  3. Those are the same markings I'm using on mine. The conversion was by hand using laminated styrene and carving to shape. It took forever but turned out nice. I've had it on the shelf of doom for years waiting to finish tho. The Wolf Pack decals should help energize me to finish it. BTW - Thanks again Jennings for the scan of the windshield markings. Don
  4. Prayers out for your Norah. I hope all turns out well and they find whatever it is that is causing this. And it is something very minor.
  5. * Prayers out Pierre for your Dad.
  6. If you can, post a pic of where you are at or at least a pic after you get it painted. What markings are you using? Don
  7. Jim, wondering if your stupid people are the same as my stupid people. Totally concur on need for this website! Don
  8. Email sent on March 20th. You replied back you had enough 1/32 Revell Mirages including this kit and didn't want it. It was sold.
  9. Do you just need the missile? I have tons from 1/48 helo kits.
  10. I would, through trial and error, keep printing on plain bond paper using the scale as a reference until I had the correct dimensions and then print to decal paper. I don't know if copier brand matters or what. I am a total noob when it comes to printing your own decals. Hopefully someone else with a lot more experience can chime in.
  11. I'd be interested if the time was right. Don
  12. Great looking Orion Don F. I can use this idea for future builds. Unfortunately, the EP-3E I've started already has the canopy puttied in and painted white along with the top of the fuselage. I can use this later tho. Thanks.
  13. I know that AeroClub did one in 1/144 scale but that is next to impossible to find. Does anyone know of any other Neptunes done in 1/144 that are available? Thanks. Don :salute:/>
  14. I stumbled across one as part of a larger decal sheet for Japanese Neptunes and Orions by Liveries Unlimited (Airways Graphics) on ebay but the sheet is at $21 US and I can't bring myself to pull the trigger for just a tiny little decal to do window area. Anyone aware of another source for windshield decals for the 1/144 Orion? Don
  15. The AC-130 kit comes with the earlier 3 bladed props as well as the requisite pieces parts for a gunship. You'll have to source the later 4 bladed props and make the changes to the port side of the fuselage to remove the ports and cutouts for the guns as well as the all the LLTV and IR equipment that's scabbed on the side. I also seem to recall that the sponson on the port side is longer to accommodate said equipment. It's been so long since I built either of these kits. Also, I don't recall if the engines included in the gunship kit are different from those included in the trash hauler ki
  16. I think it would be better received if it were a subject that actually had rivets. I love the Mossie but would find it very out of place to see rivets all over it. I think it would be as out of place as if it were on a fabric covered WWI fighter. BUT... As others here have stated, it's your model and it's only a hobby. The late great Al Superczynski had a saying, “Build what YOU want, the way YOU want to, and above all, have fun.” So go for it Prof! don
  17. OK, I almost sprayed soda out my nose. :rolleyes:/>
  18. No rivets. It was called the Wooden Wonder because is was made of plywood.
  19. I'm trying to ascertain whether the wing on this particular EC-97G is natural metal or painted aircraft grey. To my untrained eyes, it appears natural metal but the area aft of the cowlings seems to be painted some shade of grey. The cowlings are natural metal but the rest I'm not sure about. I want to model this particular aircraft so what others have been painted won't matter. Just this one. http://www.airliners.net/photo/USA---Air/Boeing-EC-97G-Stratofreighter/1226411/L/
  20. Yep, J47s. Bottom line, same crappy radials and cowlings but with new jet pods.
