  1. Just wanted to say I received mine today, and these have the best instructions of any aftermarket decals I've ever purchased. I particularly liked that you include the zoom for photocopying the drawings to use as camo masks.
  2. Oh neat, I've not seen this method of assembly for them before.
  3. I saw it at my wife's behest. It wasn't terrible by any stretch, but the clearly-contractually-mandated-by-Cruise scenes (motorbike, bullseye-ing the drone with one shot from a pistol, etc.) were stupid and greatly detracted from the feel. Also, there are some plot holes as big as Tom is short. The supporting cast did a pretty great job, though.
  4. 1/72 Hasegawa F-4F Luftverteidigungsdiesel (Air Defense Diesel) 37+42 of JG74, April-Mayish 1982. As you can see, I forgot to add the slime lights and the little loops atop the ejector seats.
  5. I should really learn how to mix paint some day.
  6. Working from home today, so I'm doing some more decaling. As you can see, I put the red fuselage band too far forward:
  7. Gott im Himmel! The stencils never ever ever end!
  8. Does anyone make 1/72 M-B H5 seats for the earlier RAF/RN Phantoms, out of curiosity? Also, I've not used the kit stencils on my 1/72 F-4F, as I have an Airdoc set I'm using instead. If anyone wants them, I'm happy to slip them in the post.
  9. Yeah, I've had similar problems with the Hasegawa 'Tooms. Really looking forward to seeing more of this build!
  10. I used XF51 and XF20; in retrospect I'd've used XF54 instead of XF20, but I'm lazy. A wash with Flory Models Dark Stain seems to have sorted it out a bit. STENCIL TIIIIME
  11. I'd say XF20 is much too light; XF54 RAF Dark Sea Grey is probably a closer match.
  12. The truth doesn't hurt...much. Most days.
  13. I trade my body for kits. No takers so far, not even the missus.
  14. Could I persuade some kind soul to sell me a pair of the 1/72 BOL / LAU-138 rails from Hasegawa Weapons set VII? I'm building a Tornado F.3 and don't want to have to spring for the whole set. I'm in the USA. Let me know!
  15. That looks pretty solid so far. I'd do the black undercoat, myself. In my experience it can really make a metallic color pop.
  16. I got RLM 80 from a color equivalency chart, but looking at it in person, I think you're quite right; it's too dark and too green for RAL 6014. I only really have access to Tamiya and Model Master colors locally; I don't use enamels, so I'm using the acrylic brands.
  17. God firk ding it! I broke the threaded portion off my airbrush's needle tube, and now it's out of action until the replacement I ordered can arrive. Just got the underbelly painted, but now heaven knows how long until I get the replacement part. ARRRGH
  18. Does the "World Hornet" boxing incorporate all of this? I know it has the searchlight, at least.
  19. What needs to be done to the 1/72 Academy Hornet to get a CF-188AM?
  20. The US was in the midst of a massive military buildup when Pearl Harbor was attacked; eleven Essex-class carriers, six Iowa-class battleships, and five Montana-class battleships, and numerous smaller ships had been ordered in the previous year alone.
  21. In fairness, the Damien Burke book you thought of is also excellent; it doesn't have any hypothetical in-service profiles (actually, I think it has one, to show the camo patterns suggested by BAC), but it goes into detail on the proposed TSR.2 interceptor variant (which would have had a high-altitude performance similar in some ways to the Tornado F.3, I gather, IE a rather low ceiling at subsonic speeds) and it has more detail on the chaff pods for the TSR.2 than the Lucas book. It is, however, much more expensive, and mostly about the development of the prototypes.
