Glad to see the RSAF decals you drew all those years ago did not go to waste! Mark

By the looks of if, the first photo is of a test aircraft. Note the vanes on the nose pitot. Mark

F-16C Block 52 with AIM-7 Sparrows. Captive carry round but unusual nonetheless. Although RSAF Vipers are very much AMRAAM capable, the DOD apparently didn't ship them to the nation as it could have started an arms race in Southeast Asia.

New Tool 1/48 F/A-18E Super Hornet Announced
gb_madcat_sl replied to gb_madcat_sl's topic in Jet Modeling
Something the Hasegawa kit didn’t have out of the box: A-G ordnance. Also, both early and late ECS vents, and different style exhaust nozzles -
Announced on Facebook a while ago. https://www.facebook.com/195290177250981/posts/3559877667458865/?d=n

The Academy kit won’t have the requisite GE exhaust for a block 30. Mark

The AMK kit is definitely not easy to build. Go for the Tamiya. Mark

What is the best currently 1/72 F-14A Tomcat kit?
gb_madcat_sl replied to McFly's topic in Jet Modeling
Are you sure about this? I compared the oleo struts of both the Academy 1/72 and Tamiya 1/48 models and they seem to be pretty close relative to their respective scales of course. The Academy one looks longer as it lacks the rods linking the drag brace to the launch bar. Mark -

1/72 Academy F-14A Tomcat VF-41 "Black Aces"

Thanks for the encouraging words, everyone! Mark -
Presenting my go at Academy's new-tool 1/72 F-14A Tomcat. Overall it was a decent build with good detail. Aftermarket used were Fine Molds plastic seatbelts and decals from a re-boxing of their old-tool Tomcat. She is built as Fast Eagle 107 of VF-41 "Black Aces" just after the infamous 1981 Gulf of Sidra incident in which this jet and another VF-41 Tomcat, Fast Eagle 102, shot down a pair of Libyan Su-22 Fitter attack aircraft. I can confirm that it is not included in the new Academy kit. Mark

You need references for Singapore Vipers? There are a couple on static display at the airshow over this weekend. Mark

Ooh. Looks like Hubbie got hit by the ban hammer.

The Hasegawa wings are missing the hinges and some actuators. Corrections covered in this article. http://www.hyperscale.com/features/2001/f14constructiondwa_3.htm Mark

Where did you get this info from?

I think they are solid parts in the kit Mark

Still need to fabricate the slime light covers and nav lights. There are no spares for these in the box. Not too difficult though. Mark

Picked up the kit from my LHS over the weekend. Looks really nice! Mark -
I see. Do you have links to these builds? I have the kit in hand and would like to have some guidance when I tackle it. Mark
