  1. Letter from the Attorney General's office, requesting my appearance for jury duty. @%#****@%!! - is all I can say. Because some misfit has landed himself in our court system, I am supposed to put my life on hold and travel downtown every day ( a practice that I put an end to by working from home) to sit and listen to some pathetic tale and watch some slimy lawyer weasel his way around the system. I have never appeared in court because I don't break the law and I have not a speck of compassion for people who find themselves up on charges. They screwed up!! Period. I resent the intrusion into
  2. Thanks for the tip. Now I have an excuse to steal something else from my wife Cheers Paul
  3. Nice job. Now you've gotten me all excited about doing a biplane. The rigging looks great. I think the pictures are all good. Its nice to see a variety. Cheers Paul
  4. Well done you! Whats up next? How large has your stash become? You're hooked. Cheers from Port Union Paul
  5. Had a chance to put in some real quality modelling time. Family was on autopilot and required little input from me so I got around to building a kit I had wanted to do for a while. This is the Airfix 1/72 Harvard and I think I need 2 or 3 more the same for a larger project. I'd like to do a large Commonwealth training program dio. Cheers Paul
  6. Thanks for the info Smithery and your kind offer. I need 1/72, so I guess I'll be talking to Mr. Belcher soon. Cheers Paul
  7. I'm busy working on my Airfix Starfighter (the one I said I'd never build) and despite all of the warts its not coming along too badly. The kids requested a tiger scheme and have helped me paint it. Where can I find the right decals to finish this? It looks a lot like the tiger in Tony's museum.
  8. :o Thanks for the info Mike. Good site with good pics. Cheers Paul
  9. Hi all, This is my first time in this category. I'm building a 1/24 scale AEA Silver Dart and I'm trying to figure out what to do for an engine. The wooden blocks and dowels with the kit just don't cut it. Does anyone have any ideas for anything even close? The kit is by Trillium Balsa - trilliumbalsa.com and is building up quite nicely. Any suggestions will be welcomed. Cheers Paul
  10. ESCI 1/48 Canadair CL-13 mk. IV Sabre. Bill Byrnes (KingClair Hobbies) found a number of these kits. Sold me an opened one that had been started and had the roundels missing from the sheet. @ $3.00 how could MacStingy resist. I just love Sabres. Happy New Year all !!!!!!
  11. AAAAAAAARRRRRRGggggggghhhhhhh!!!!! You're absolutley right. I was backwards. The scale calculator works great though. I'm sooooooooooo embarassed. Thanks to Bill Ficner also.
  12. Easiest way is to take the scale you want to end up with and divide it by what you have. 18/48 =.375 Multiply any of your 48th scale dimensions by .375 for 18th scale. 18/32 =.5625 This works for enlarging or reducing. Just always start with the size you want. I used to have a scale calculating wheel that I used a lot in the graphics business until a co-worker taught me this method. Hope this helps. Sounds like an ambitious project <_< Cheers Paul
  13. WELCOME BACK!!!! I am also modelling after about 30 yrs. I think I was too busy running on the treadmill with family, career, etc, etc, etc. I was progressing pretty well towards heart attack city. Made major lifestyle changes and regained control. (I think). I think I enjoy this hobby more now than I did at first. Cheers Paul
  14. Easy Off oven cleaner. Had a model with gloss black primer and a couple of coats of Alaclad on top. Finally gave up and decided to start over. I had nothing to lose at that point. Learned about the wonders of Easy Off on this very forum. Spray it on and let it sit for 20-30 mins. Then wearing rubber gloves attack it with a toothbrush. The plastic came perfectly clean. You can even get lemon scent, so it doesn't smell so bad. Paul
  15. Tried lots of alternatives in my search for thrift and I come back to Tamiya.
  16. Isn't that slot in the first picture for the display stand??
  17. Let me add my compliments!! A very nice job done on an aircraft that I've always had a soft spot for. Paul
  18. Hi!! Thought maybe a little more info about this Mustang. Reg was FBN with # 9566 over the fin flash. The roundels used were solid dark blue with a red classic leaf in the centre. Let's see if this rings a bell with anyone. Thanks again. Paul
  19. Good find that!! Thanks Smithery. I've bookmarked this for sure. Again something new from ARC Paul
  20. Hi All I 'm going to start a Academy Mustang kit. I want to build the experimental Canadian AC used at uplands.(just got the decals at the Ajax show recently) Was the aircraft bare aluminum or was it painted aluminum? Also, I was wondering if the wings were filled a la ARC and did it carry guns? I seem to be able to find very little Canadian information in my searches. Would be glad for any help. I've been away from modelling since the summer. (cottage) Thanks Paul
  21. I saw this diorama on display at last weeks show in Ajax. Remarkable to say the least. I found myself holding my breath. The shimmering light effect that pictures can't convey was stunning. Paul
  22. Hi all!! Thanks for your help. Looks like the interior is green. Found a site to do with Harvard recovery and restoration http://www.chaa-recovery.ca/ These people locate and recover AC from the water around Ontario. Check it out. Has some good detail pics. Thanks again Paul
  23. Hi all, Can anyone tell me what colour a Harvard interior should be? I've spent way too much time trying to find out on line Also the wheel wells. I've been in a slump and I have to get going again. Paul
