  1. Yes, yes I am. Hey, I'm not denying it. I'm a Star Wars nerd and damn proud of it!
  2. Thanks! They use a bioengineered creature that can manipulate gravity for propulsion and for defense. Messing with the gravity fields lets them create tiny black holes to suck in enemy laser shots. I built it because I like the contrast between that and a normal Star Wars ship.
  3. That's amazing. I love the use of the HARM for the nose fairing. It really adds some interest to the Eagle. Any ideas on what paint scheme you'll have it in? I think it would look great in the F-4G Hill II scheme, but that's just me. Can't wait to see it done!
  4. Well ARCers, I've started on my first total scratchbuild. While collecting references for the Executor Super Star Destroyer and reading through the Star Wars Wookieepedia wiki, I got an idea. What would an upgraded successor to the Imperial Star Destroyer look like? I envisioned a ship with more rounded edges, with more "powerful" looking engines, turbolaser mounts on both upper and lower surfaces, and a revised superstructure. It will resemble a Star Destroyer, but with a definitely-unique look to it, I hope. So far, I've drawn out some blueprints for the main hull and started cutting plast
  5. *mumble mumble* None, unfortunately. The F-117 looks great, that Future coat really glossed it up.
  6. Maybe some of the avionics are still in use on different aircraft.
  7. What is the hot flannel technique?
  8. The Executor was pretty much overkill, just like both Death Stars and all the other Star Wars superweapons were overkill. The Executor would have been a great planetary defense weapon though. I'm thinking of doing mine in New Republic markings (even though that may not be Star Wars canon).
  9. Well, I actually managed to finish a model this year! Of course, rather than a serious, well-thought-out, in-depth build, it was a quickie. It only took me around 2 hours to build, and I used some artists' acrylics from Reeves to finish it off. I still need to flat coat it, but that'll get done tomorrow most likely. I've been reading the New Jedi Order series of Star Wars novels and inspiration hit me. The strongly anti-technology Yuuzhan Vong use living chunks of specially grown coral to fly around the galaxy. The starfighter-analogs are known as coralskippers, so I decided to build one of t
  10. Two words: Diet soda. Or, alternatively, caffeine-free fruit juice.
  11. Dude, they make plenty of decaf brands on the market today that are just as tasty as the real thing. Calm it down a bit, pal. And this project looks pretty sweet!
  12. I WISH I finished 3 kits last year. Hey, if I can't be building a model, I'll be encouraging others to build!
  13. Holy crap, that's awesome! That TV system is especially cool looking.
  14. I don't have a problem with it, personally, but it's your thread. It's up to you.
  15. I looked in one of the Star Wars RPG books on vehicles, but didn't find anything dimensions-wise. As for Wookieepedia, all it had was the length, 19km. At this point, I'm thinking either I have eyeball everything, OR I'll have to build something else until I can get some dimensions.
  16. The only problem with the Hase Flanker that's really noticeable is the rear fuselage being a bit too wide. The nose is easily replaced with one from Quickboost.
  17. No, FLAPS UP! NOT DROPPED, UP! FLAPS UP! ;)
  18. Well, it looks like I'll be building the Executor first. However, I can't find any 3-views or any dimensions other than the length (19km). The prototype model will be approx. 30cm (12in.) long, so that's about 1/6333333 scale. Sometime after that, I'll make a larger model, maybe up to 1 meter long. Maybe I'll even use fiber optics to light that one. Can anyone help with either dimensions or a 3-view? Unless I get sone of those, I'm going to have some problems getting this thing to look right. Thanks, Chris
  19. Very interesting. It looks majorly expensive though, $585. It might be an option at some point down the line, though. At the moment though, I'm not confident enough in my skills to build something like that from resin. Only time I ever used resin was on a MiG-21 kit a while back. Still, it IS tempting.
  20. I would if I didn't prefer Star Wars. I just couldn't get into Star Trek like I can get into Star Wars.
  21. Same here, actually. I've been reading through the New Jedi Order series (about half done now), which gave me the idea of building the Imperial Star Destroyer Errant Venture, and after looking for ISD pics online I got it in my head to build the Executor and Eclipse as well. I'll probably build more than just those, but the Executor and Eclipse will be in a much smaller scale than any other capital ships I want to build, to avoid having two 6-foot models sitting around while I have nowhere to display them.
  22. I swear by my Xacto razor saw. It's never farther from me than my Xacto knife itself.
  23. The third ship I want to build eventually would be the reborn-Emperor Palpatine's flagship, the Eclipse. Almost as big as a Super Star Destroyer, with a superlaser (one of the smaller ones from the Death Star) mounted in the bow. I just want to try out less radical hull-shapes first, to make sure I know what I'm doing.
