  1. Thanks! It really does eat up my sheet styrene, but it's all worth it. Thanks AWan! I get all my sheet from my LHS, Dansey's Hobbies, here in Vegas. Pretty decent price, $1.25 for the thickest stuff, $0.69 for the thinner stuff I use for most of my details. I've got enough to finish the blade, but I'll need to get another couple sheets of the thick stuff when I start the complex, curved hull. I'll have an update sometime soon, I'm almost finished with my quick build of the tiny YT-2400.
  2. As promised, here's a quick update. Spent most of my model time today scribing the lower section of the blade. Scribing around the hangar bay openings was the most tense part. Making sure everything was straight and parallel took some work, but a bit of care, a steel ruler, and spending plenty of time preparing and measuring before putting scriber to plastic ensured that everything would turn out okay. I also built a structure that'll be going in the bottom of the blade. I had to cut it just right so it wouldn't affect the hangar bays, but so it would still fit with no holes or (hopefu
  3. Thanks! I had to look up Homeworld, but there's definitely a resemblance between the Scythe and the mothership. Thanks! This one won't have LEDs and fiber optics, unfortunately. I've got no experience with lighting models, so I'll wait to try it with a cheap kit so it won't be any great loss if I screw it up. Oh yeah, I love Wookieepedia. It's got a bunch of great ship designs that I'm planning on building, especially some of the starfighters. I'll have an update posted soon!
  4. Great job, dude! B) Anyone else think "canard-equipped Flanker" when they saw this shot?
  5. I'm just going to guess that this stuff is probably classified.
  6. Thanks! Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the Crossfire fighters. They're like a bad cross (pun, ha!) between the B-wing and X-wing. It was kind of a cool concept, but it didn't get pulled off very well. I do like the Predator TIE fighter the Empire uses in the Legacy series though.
  7. Because of a hacker attack a while back, you can't directly upload pictures to ARC. You'll have to use a photo-sharing service, like photobucket or flickr, and post your pictures that way, using IMG tags.
  8. If you take a sharp X-acto knife very very lightly over the plastic, it'll create a raised line. It's really a groove, but it lifts the plastic to either side of the cut, so it looks just like a raised panel line. In 1/48 scale, it'd probably look nearly perfect and in-scale for what you need. Hope this helps!
  9. After a few weeks contemplating this project, I finally just jumped right in. I've wanted to build this for a while, so I figured I'd just get started already. The scale is 1:2222, roughly. After accidentally stumbling upon this page I immediately knew I had to build this ship. So, I got started pretty soon on drawing up plans. I found a set of plans online, but I didn't like them. It looked to me like the 'blade' shape was off compared to the Legacy comic book illustrations. It had a curve that came to a really sharp point for the front of the blade, which didn't seem to fit the comics. My p
  10. You've always got the most unique ideas for this stuff. Great job dude!
  11. Future actually works a lot better for this. Or, use a decal solvent like MicroSol. It'll suck the decal down and let the air out so the silvering disappears.
  12. This has got to be the best paintjob I've ever seen on the Falcon. You captured the look and feel of this iconic Star Wars ship absolutely perfectly. Great job!
  13. Thanks! Painting time is getting ever closer. Gotta make sure my airbrush is still in working order, though. I think I've got a leak where the air hose hooks to the brush. Thanks! I've got a new project in mind, set to start as soon as I finish the Virulence: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Scythe-clas..._battle_cruiser The Scythe-class main battle cruiser is from the Star Wars: Legacy comics put out by Dark Horse. I'm pretty excited about this one, and I'm already drawing up plans for building it. What do you guys think?
  14. I usually fill it with CA and rescribe it.
  15. Update time! I've been really working on the bridge structure, so I can have one finished sub-assembly. The bridge is pretty much finished right now, except for paint. I also worked on the port side trench along the upper/lower hull joint, and I added a couple minor details around the bow superlaser. Coming up next time: hull scribing. It's about time I really get on it and get it all finished up, so I can finish adding the parts to the hull before the prime/paint stage. Thanks for looking! EDIT: Fixed the pics.
  16. I'd spray the fins first, then mask them off and spray the missile body. It'd be easier than doing it the other way around.
  17. Oh definitely. As soon as my camera battery is charged, I'll have new pics up. I'd have taken them yesterday, but cutting and gluing 100+ bits of 1-3mm styrene sheet took it out of me.
  18. Ooh, I'll be watching this one. I've been waiting for this since those teaser pics in the A-10I thread. Looks great so far! That's a great job fitting that 'pit into the Flanker fuselage.
  19. The logic I've got for that is, the Empire had very harsh, straight, industrial ships, where the Rebellion had the more organic-looking Mon Cal ships. I'm trying to build a ship that says "Empire" but a different Empire than Palpatine's Empire Thanks! Thanks! I should have it done before too long. The major construction I have left is just the trenches, stern with the engines, and finishing all the scribing. Out of all of it, the scribing should take the least time, and when that stuff is done, I'm on to the paint stage.
  20. Thanks Janne! UPDATE TIME! I haven't been working on the Virulence very much recently; I've had a bit of modeler's block going on. I have managed to get some work done on the bridge and main engine, though. So far, the engine is built from part of a Coca-Cola bottle, with some sheet styrene and a prop hub from the Mono 1/48 P-61. After trying about 10 different bridge configurations with everything I've got in my spares box, I finally settled on this. Most of it is built from parts of the Tamiya 1/350 USS New Jersey superstructure, with some sheet styrene details added in. It's not
  21. Now THAT is an awesome F-16. Love the skull and bones, it looks good on a Viper. Nice job, dude!
  22. There's one up on a pole in Freedom Park. I'm not sure if it's the same one you're talking about, but it's there, along with an F-86, F-100, F-111, F-4D, F-5E, A-10, and F-105G.
  23. The old Su-35 and the Su-37 both had canards. This is the new Su-35 with thrust vectoring and no canards. There's a thread about it in the Research Corner. EDIT: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index....howtopic=181874 That's the Su-35 thread.
