  1. Gunship Gray is the proper color for an F-15E. The F-15 Grey is one of the two colors used on F-15A/B/C/D's in the Mod Eagle scheme. As for which type of paint, I know that a lot of people on here prefer acrylics over enamel due to the toxic fumes enamels (and the thinners used with them) have. If you have plenty of ventilation, using a paint booth, etc, then that is not an issue. I tend to use both. I use mostly enamels, but prefer some colors in acryl. Black for instance does not seem to spray as well as an enamel as the acryl does. I use Model Master paints BTW. Aa
  2. Hello One that I decided to keep, but now need to sell, quickly. This comes with pretty much everything you need to build a Gulf of Sidra Tomcat (either engagement). Hurts to let it go, but I have to. Here is what is included. All items are new in box/bag and unstarted. Model box has been opened, but all parts are sealed. Tamiya F-14A Tomcat Eduard Canopy Mask Eduard Brassin AIM-9L/M Sidewinders Eduard Brassin AIM-54A Phoenix Eduard Brassin early AND late wheels Eduard Brassin Ejection Seats Furball AeroDesign Tomcat Colors and Markings
  3. They have. And I'll add my 2 cents. All jets on that sheet are from Seymour Johnson AFB. All Seymour jets are powered by the F100-PW-220 engines. The airframes at SJ are the oldest in the fleet, and most have spent their entire "lives" at that base...Maybe switching between squadrons, maybe not. The newest jets are at Lakenheath. The air intakes and ram air inlets provide enough air for the 220 engines to allow them to operate at peak efficiency AND allow enough bleed air to provide for the ECS. The -229's require more air, so the scoops were added to force more air into the bleed
  4. I was able to acquire one for the project I need Harold, but I would still look into it. Just about all Block 40/42/50/52 USAF units are flying SNIPER/HTS combos now, so there is a demand for it now. Aaron
  5. Bump. Willing to make deals here (for instance...I'll trade all three things that are left for the 1/48 GWH F-15C) if anyone is interested in anything. I'll wait a few more days, then on to E-bay. Aaron
  6. Updated the list. Sold items removed. Still a few things left to get rid of. If these things could be gone by tomorrow, it would really help. Aaron
  7. Does anyone have an extra left-side HTS pod from Hasegawa Weapons Set E in 1/48 they are not using? I can pay a few buck or send some weapons your way in return for it. Thank you Aaron
  8. I've ordered a few sets from E-bay, and have never had a problem. His sets are great, and I will be buying more in the future. A suggestion...1/48 AH-64 Apache wheels. Aaron
  9. One of my favorites too. GBU-15/AGM-130 on wing station, GBU-24 opposite LCT/RCT-2 station with a fuel tank same side wing pylon. You can't see it in the pic, but the missile outboard of the GBU-15 would be a Sidewinder...AIM-120A/B's can't be loaded when a GBU-15/AGM-130 is. Another variation on that one, is you can add two GBU-12's onto the front CFT pylons same side as the GBU-15. Aaron
  10. All PM's answered and shipping quotes sent. As soon as I start receiving payment for items pending, I will update the list. Aaron
  11. That may be true. It is tough to find good pictures and refs on the F-15I's. I DO know, somehow or other, the issue USAF F-15E's was having with flutter was resolved with the IAF birds, allowing them to regularly carry three tanks. I'm certainly not going to argue or try to correct a guy who, just by the title of his screen name, carries more cred on the F-15E than I EVER will. ;-) Aaron
  12. I'll have to look and see where I found this information. I was told the IAF pylon was indeed longer, but what you say is true...You only have so much space to work with. Aaron
  13. No. They carry the same tanks as all other F-15's, and they are interchangeable between the wing and centerline stations. It is the centerline pylon itself that is longer/stronger than that mounted on the USAF F-15E. As with many things on IAF aircraft, the pylon was built locally. Aaron
  14. SDB's were not in production til 2005. The initial batch (this is coming from one of the 391st pilots Duane is talking about) were hard to deploy...they glided TOO well. You would release the bomb, but you would never know exactly when the bomb would hit...not so great in a Troops In Contact or moving target situation. After that deployment, SDB's were removed from service for a short while, until that problem was resolved. They are back in service now though.
  15. Gentlemen I have SEVERAL PM's to respond to later today. Suffice it to say the Hornet, Growler and Skyraider are spoken for
  16. Hi all Found out today that I have to have a hernia repaired, and it is going to put me out of work for a few days, making bills a little hard to pay this month. Also, I have come to the conclusion that I am just not into actively modelling anymore. I check the boards pretty much daily, I enjoy reading my FSM, but I can't remember the last time that I sat down and finished a model...it's been AT LEAST 10 years. I've just lost interest, and I don't think it is coming back. So, the surgery is a good excuse to get rid of some models that will never get built sitting in my closet.
  17. So you can carry that load more than 5 miles.... Just kidding. as for the OP...The Israelis would carry all three tanks to hit certain (un-named) targets. And they have longer, heavier centerline tanks to counter the flutter.
  18. About the only time you will see a Strike Eagle carry the C/L tank is ferry configuration, and even then, rarely. The disturbed airflow from the LANTIRN system (and now Sniper/LANTIRN) causes the centerline tank to flutter, which in turn causes the pylon to weaken and eventually crack. That I know of, the C/L tank was never used regularly in combat, and not alone. The only instance I can think of it being needed is if they were carrying two GBU-28's on the wing pylons and needed the extra bag of gas. Having two GBU-28's IS an authorized load, and has been tested, but again, to my knowledge, ha
  19. I owe you an apology Floyd. I should not have jumped on you about that. I'm sorry. There really is no way to describe what these brave men do when the receive the MoH. Having met Crandall in person, and heard some of his story (and read the rest) I can tell you the only contest he "won" that day was the one for his survival. Regardless, I should have kept my virtual mouth shut, and I meant no offense. Aaron
  20. Not to my knowledge. You can post in the buy/sell section here and see if anyone has an extra set. If there is a Micheal's nearby, you can pick up a Revell F-15E for pretty cheap, and use those ones. Aaron
