  1. Hello again, the Hog is complete. I retain a weapon conf that was used for the battle to regain Kahjfi (sp ?), all weapons from the kit except the TER and Mk 20, that are hasegawa. On to the pics; comments and crtiques, most welcome, cheers Stef (#6)
  2. Hello, Thanks a lot Scooby, I will place the finished pics in the group build part (the desert storm one) ... cheers Stef (#6)
  3. hello, your own A-10 ... your building looks good, so there no reasons why shouldn't do even better than me ... :)
  4. Hello, If I remeber correct, the font for the manufacturer plate is amarillo, like the one for the serial, USAF lettering and so on. you'll find it here : http://www.tlai.com/med_des/amusaf.html. AFAIK, it is the same font used on the 1950/60 era planes stencils. I think the font later evoluted on moderner jets, but somem may know better. For the stencilling, it's rather complicate, has I haven't yet seen a website displaying these (tough it doesn't mean such a site doesn't exist ! ) I have the french ones, which I guess are up to nato standards, but didn't re-draw these yet. I don't k
  5. Hell, I've been struggling with the Italeri kit recently (see my post in the Gulf War group build) and it might my building skills that are faulty, but I had a real bad time, espec with the engines nacelles. Each and every seams, joints, fitting, etc needed at least putty and sanding. As for accuracy, I ain't no Guru on the topic, but now that the nose problem has been raised it strikes me. I also appreciate the fact of having the option of doing a pre- or post-LASTE mods ... A friend got a the Hobby Boss kit, and except it has no raised rivets on the tail section, the blank fits, at least
  6. Hello Bener, Very cool MiG ... Maybe a tad more weathering should be nice (but I like them crappy ! ) Nice machine and nice model Stef (#6)
  7. Hello, great work on the seam reduction, for the intake, Always loved the A-7 ... cheers Stef (#6)
  8. Hello, Glad you like You will certainly do as well as I'm doing, what I saw from your building was coming along nicely. Cheers Stef (#6)
  9. Hello, Yeah, those nacelles are really a pain in the neck ... More images of the A-10, which is now very close to completion The bloody nacelles are fitted, the steps reduced. A coat of tamyia grey primer was sprayed all over to check for imperfections, lines that needed a rescribe, you name it The nose after the dreaded plate that holds the cockpit and front LG has been roughly sanded back in shape The windshield was added after the Eduard etched gunsight was fitted with its glazing. To achieve a flush fitt of the front canopy, I had been adding a small plasticard triangle sanded to
  10. Hello, I concur, go for the Hobby Boss ... A friend of mine bought it last saturday, and we hab the opportunity of blank fitting the parts, and yes, it will surely fit better than the Italeri one. Cheers Stef (#6)
  11. Hello, Interesting subject, and coming along nicely. Always nice to see some rotors around ... cheers Stef (#6)
  12. Hello, Thanks for the nice words, guys. Cemical, watch out the engine nacelles attachement to fuselage : steps at the seams. Idem with the stabs installation. Also, on my example the fit of the plate holding the cockpit tube and front landing gear well was reeeeally bad on the right side, standing out a good milimetter. (flush on the left, tough). Had to force-glue it with CA, add a reinforcing strip of plasticard and sand back in shape. Might only be my example or my building which is faulty, but this kitten of a kit is a real B***h More pics to come tomorrow. Cheers Stef (#6)
  13. Hello, here are some building pics of the Italeri A-10; Not the easiest kit to build, but woth the effort. On the positive points, the raised rivets on the tail section, but images will speak for themselves ... The cokcpir is quite poorly detailed, so I used the Eduard etched set intended for the Tamiya A-10 The complete cockpit; seat is from Quick Boost (pretty cool, unexpensive stuff) Assembly begal with engines nacelles, with a terrible fit. The cause is that the engines covers can be displayed open, but the engine main body isn't provided .... also, the ring of the front engine is
  14. hello, Dream, Thanks a lot for the precision; when I said I didn't see anything wrong, it was me really haven't seen it Now that you say so, it I've been looking at the pics, and yes too squary ... it's built, painted and decaled, currently under weathering process, so ... Cheers and thanks for the input. Stef (#6)
  15. Hello, To complete what's preceeding : I'm currently fighting with the Italeri kit, and even tough I didn't see anythting special to the nose, I have to advocate you to stay away from it : fitting is really a pain in the a**, with issues on the engine nacelles and the undernose fuselage part. On the good side, decals are very fine, and do justify buying the kit. my 2 cents ! HTH Stef
  16. Hello, I've had a peek in the box, here in France, no items to make a two seater; however, kit is really looking like a reduced Academy kit (**), so I guess you'll have all the bells and whistles to make a C, at least, the weaponry. I didn't fondle a lot in the box and I'm not a bug specialist, so more infos later from the websites. It looks to be very good, finely engraved with fine rivetting (less present than on the Panther, for instance); no intel about fitting, as I didn't had opportunity to do blank fitting. Cheers, Stef (#6) (**) the statement about the academy reduction, is jus
  17. Hello, Doing the sharkmouth one, 23rd TFS ... Three tones scheme, which IMHO, is the most suitable scheme for the A-10. Low Viz grey are fun to weather, but of lesser mean aspect ! :o Weapon load of rockeyes, mavericks the usual AIM9 on dual rail and ecm pod & LAU 68 ... Cheers Stef (#6)
  18. Wilco, Thanks for the hint  Cheers Stef (#6)
  19. Thanks a lot Mark, and for the Hobby Boss kit, well, for me, ut's tooooo late ... have their Mirage IIIC, tough ... Thanks again Cheers Stef (#6)
  20. Hello gents, I'm currently suffering on, er, I mean building, the Italeri 1/48 A-10, and want to depict a Desert Storm machine. Italeri inst sheet says to affix 3 sensors/bumps/aerial at the bottom of each fins, and another 3 under the tail, at the fuselage/stab crossing. A bit of web browsing and a look at my sparse documentation (mostly Gulf Air War Devrief, from Airlife) don't show these items in place during Desert Storm. So, do I put these on or not ? Aren't these thingies from an upgrade after the 1st Gulf War ? Thanks in advance for your inputs ... Stef (#6) PS : if anyone still
  21. Hello, Cool Viggie, so rarely built .... but always a pleasure for the eyes. Cheers Stef (#6)
  22. Hello, Well, I'm not up to the stage of inserting the 'pit in the fuselage yet, but I must say I have lots of fit issues with that kit, especially on the engines nacelles ... The fit is really horrible ... And I had a really proeminent step on the port upper wing / fuselage joint, too ... For the cockpit, I had an Eduard set intended for the tamiya kit, and a Quick Boost resin seat ... I've been seing the Hobby boss A-10 in the local hobbyshop (I'm in France), but I don't know wether it's a better fit or not ... Cheers Stef (#6)
  23. Hello Pacific ... Gorgeous Mirage Nice build and nice paint .... and a nice plane, too Cheers Stef (#6)
  24. Hello, If you have access to Tamiya acryl paints, they have released a specific ref, XF-71. This is a ki-84 cokcpit painted with that color : HTH, Cheers Stef (#6)
