I had seen my first F14 in New York Intrepid Museum this May. Although the plane is old, it still look very excellent. Once we saw the real F-14, we will think that our model is never close to the real plane. The good point is no need to chase on building a replica, just build a model is ok.

i got the Aires cockpit set, it is very nice. While the wheel bay, it is difficult to install so i didn't buy it. Btw, we seldom turn over the plane to show the wheel bay. Even it lack of detail, i still accept it. Just try to make our life easy.

It look very nice, i should find this on my area.

i also just brought this kit. I think the Kestrels decal can only use on vertical tails, the spine must paint if decided to make the Kestrels bird. By the way, Kestrels bird look pretty.

I alway have humble enamel over Gunze & Tamiya acrylic by hand painting, it is no problem. I just have the acrylic paint dry over a few days before i apply the enamel.

Beside those pylon, you may also need to add a round GPS dome on the spine of fuselage, change the round bowl on rio seat to a square one, add a control strick on the left panel of rio seat, all require scratch building. Also have to fill the glove vane with filler and sanding afterward. Hasegawa never changed their instruction sheet or the molding since its released almost 20 years ago.

I don't think Hasegawa will stop the production of its Golden Egg product. They change a decal than it become a new product. Actually, the Hasegawa F-14A, B & D are mainly the same except the exhaust nozzle & chinpod. It is easily to change from A to D. Hasegawa F-14 is still using the same molding since late 1980s. Btw, it is still a good kit but not worth for so expensive price.

This is a toy, not exactly as model. They are building F-18 in 1/48 too. I had seem them on show in the recent Asia toy fair in HK.

I prefer acrylics for air brush for its easy clean & and less odor. Enamel is great for hand painting, i mostly use Humbrol.

You may need to add the GPS Antenna dome on top of fuselage.

Hi there, Hasegawa seldom have new tooling on their kits for many many years, it is really not worth for money to buy their "new kit". In reality, they are only issuing new decal sheet, even the instruction sheet seem lazy to update. All their F-14 series are same tooling using almost 20 years without change and price raise to sky high. In the economic downturn, i would rather swift to more cost effective brand, such as Revell Germany.
