Hello all, Since I am much too lazy to duplicate the same material here, I would like to simply provide a link to a thread I've started over on Britmodeler.com to cast clear resin canopies for the 1/72 Revellogram F-105D Thunderchief and for the Muroc Conversions of the F-8A and F-8C Crusader of the 1/72 Academy kit: Resin Cast Canopy This project is occurring not only because I need these pieces, but for the sake of modeling research, about how to do the masters, make the molds, and most importantly, what kind of resin and what technique. Anyone interested is welco

Hi all! Does anyone have a source for either an original or replacement canopy (more precisely the sliding hood) for the 1/48 HASEGAWA F4U-4? The original in my kit was damaged when removing it from the sprue tree and a Falcon replacement I received from an eBay user last year was crushed in the mail. The kit is mostly built with the ancient Verlinden cockpit and flaps set and some True Details wheels. I just need the canopy to get it painted in GSB and wrapped up with decals. Thanks in advance! Hi! So I have bit of a weird question regarding to Tomcats canopy... See I have a Hasegawa F-14A kit at home and when I checked the construction plan I noticed something rather weird with the canopy: The Canopy is kinda "double Bubble" shaped with the RIOs part of the canopy getting higher in its own weird bubble canopy: Now this ofc probably is some weird error in the plan but it kinda made me a bit restless so I looked at a bunch of Plans of the Tomcat online and in books and I also tried real life pictures but I didn't come to a c

It comes up now and then, whether it is possible to duplicate vac-u-formed canopies. The answer is yes! I will show you how I do it. First off, the canopy you wish to replicate has to be closed at both ends. If it has already been cut out of it's plastic sheet, you are going to have to devise a way to make it hold a runny sort of product. One way might be to glue plastic pieces to the part that needs to be sealed off, using a glue such as G-S cement, which can later be dissolved with 91% rubbing alcohol, without harming the plastic. BEWARE -- THIS METHOD WILL NOT W

Hello everyone ๐ Apologies for posting a second question within a few days of joining the forum This is just a question above the Have Glass canopies and whether anyone is aware of a site which goes into details on them (such when they were introduced, which planes have them etc). Google hasn't been much help unfortunately Basically I am currently building an A-10A and the windscreen cracked so I have ordered the AFV Club canopy which has been treated to give the Have Glass effect. I have tried looking a reference photos etc and through my reference book and

Last night I masked off a SBD dauntless 1/48 revel model. It was tedious work and a real test of patience. I used sliced painter's tape and maskrol. I then airbrushed the two canopy pieces. This morning I removed the masking and maskrol and found some overspray on the windscreen away from the frames. Additionally the glass is a bit foggy. I had dipped it in Future before I painted (a day before). Maybe it was the wrong way to remove glue, but I took a wood toothpick and rubbed away the paint where it was not supposed to be. I was pretty disappointed with the final result. I spent a lot of time

I have the 1/48 Hasegawa F-14A Black Knights history boxing. I want to build it in flight. The canopy will have minimal aftermarket PE, if any. I remember reading that there were issues with the closed canopy and landing gear doors. The canopy seems wider on the sides than where it meets the fuselage. But most of the builds I have seen don't seem to mention this. I vaguely remember some other issues with closed gear doors. So are there any issues with the canopy I need to be aware of? The parts are in their bags so I don't want to open them just yet.

Hello everyone. In my latest video tutorial you will see how I mask and paint the canopies of my scale models using DIY masks made of masking tape. You will also see the visual impact painting from the inside as well as from the outside have on the appearance of a plastic scale model. Thanks for watching and don't forget to subscribe to my channel. Best regards M.
