Tomcat RIO
did the 6 ejection seats for the 1/72 trio. seat belts made from tamiya masking tape. and more progress on my big 1/48 revell superhornet. will be made in the markings of vfa-31 tomcatters i started with the exhaust cans, since i was spraying another phantom elswhere with clear orange and post shaded some weapons the tricky intakes and the cockpit Edited February 7, 2009 by Tomcat RIO

Tomcat RIO
and the revell 1/48 goes on. black tail was sent for repair, with placard and putty, to fill back a portion where excess plastic was cut off by my spruecutter a mix of black and tamiya clear was used to create a super high gloss black the greyish blue was self mixed dark grey thermal blanket panels patches method and layering of the colours [
Tomcat RIO
a crude wash applied onto the grey, without any clear coat, this is to let some of the wash absorb and stain the grey paint after wash cleaned up, and tamiya gloss applied at areas where decals need to be applied mask the intakes to spray. this is crazy i will never do it again. and after spraying the white i discover massive faults, ah well. intake covers.. and some of the white parts, coated liberally with tamiya gloss clear
Tomcat RIO
decals were slowly pasted, using the Twobobs decal sheet. clear gloss on the black areas and flat for the greys was done by careful masking and spraying also, some weapons for the 1/48 and 1/72 trio

Tomcat RIO
@greg - thanks bro! glad you liked it, i broke some drill bits trying to get those holes in the vents.. and finally, a quick snap of the Swarm on my living room floor. apologies for lack of proper studio photos, i will be doing that at the end of the year once i get a good booth setup. 3 hasegawa 1/72s, 2 48 italeris and the revell, and 9 dragon 1/144s. All the former US Navy Fighter squadrons that flew tomcats and converted to the SH are featured, and truly, the hi-vis schems tell us, "Legends never die" Edited October 26, 2009 by Tomcat RIO
GreyGhost
Nice ... I wish some other former Tomcat Squadrons like VF-1, VF-21, VF-24, VF-51, VF-84, VF-111, VF-114, etc were able to serve still ... Gregg Edited October 26, 2009 by GreyGhost
