Bit of detail painting going on today :D

Masked and painted the anti glare on the nose..

IMG_4893.jpg

And the front edges of the fins and wings got painted with Alclad white aluminium...

IMG_4894.jpg

Unfortunately the tape lifted the paint on one of the wings...strange since I had it clear coated to avoid just that :/

IMG_4895.jpg

Then I masked off the nose cone and and the IFR probe, I begun with Alclad primer to get rid of all the different paints used earlier, it would take way to many layers of white to cover the paint shifts otherwise.

And the mask removed, got a nice off white tone to it :D

Wow. That's just incredible! I wish I had spent the money and gotten the Hasegawa Tomcat instead of the Revell one. Sooo much nicer. Great work on your Cat. I've been taking notes! Can't wait to see (and learn) more.

Terrific Tomcat!

One interesting fact -- the Iranians at least once mounted a HAWK missile :woot.gif: on the fuselage just under the wing root on a Tomcat. I've seen a photo of it. The Tomcat in question was in the same color scheme you are using, but no markings were visible in the shot.

Blast and damnation!! :soapbox:

I´ve misplaced the PE sheet that came with the gawa model :deadhorse1:

I can´t make the boarding ladder without it nor add the canopy locking mechanism...

Only small stuff again ...

Assembled the tailhook, I took off aout 1mm off the tailhook since it´s a bit long :D

IMG_4905.jpg

Painted the main wheels..

IMG_4906.jpg

Painted the Phoenix missiles..

IMG_4907.jpg

And the other missiles as well for that matter :P

IMG_4908.jpg

And the airbrakes...

IMG_4909.jpg

Touched up where the tape lifted the paint...a bit od polishing and a clear coat it won´t show as obviously..

IMG_4911.jpg

Well then...Time to start making the landing gear legs then and I think decals are about to happen :D

Cheers!

Thanx bdt13 :-D

I first shoot the entire wheel in flat black and then I shoot the white of the rim.

Then I brushpaint the tyre with diluted flat black, I let the thinned paint seap around the rim.

Time for some construction for a change :D

I shamelessly stole Veliko_pile´s method for making the canopy breaker...

First a bit of masking...

IMG_4913.jpg

Then a bit of putty and off with the mask...

IMG_4922.jpg

I shifted my attention to the rear, the fuel dump looked horrid so I cut it off and drilled a hole...

IMG_4915.jpg

Then I stretched some plastic tube to the right diameter and put it into place...

IMG_4916.jpg

And now to the landing gears!

I really don´t like the gawa landing gears...way too many parts I think!

Got them together after a while and I remember hearing something about the fit with the Aires wheel well and the gawa struts..

I dry fitted the MLG..and well that didn´t look good :/

IMG_4917.jpg

it should look like this..but the MLG support is misaligned....

IMG_4918.jpg

After some clever meassuring I decided to cut off 3 mm from the support...

IMG_4919.jpg

Now we have a perfect fit!

IMG_4920.jpg

That was quite a chunk I had to take out of th support :P Compare with the unmodified one :P

IMG_4921.jpg

More about the struts tomorrow :D

Cheers!
