The new 1/32 Tamiya kit is a Corsair!!

Your LHS will also be out of business soon. Same reason most people don't have a LHS anymore... Just saying.

Eh. They've been around a long time and seem to be doing well. I think he gets most of his cash from RC modelers and trains. He's an armor modeler himself but definitely a cool guy. I go in there all the time and buy all my paints and such hit have only bought one kit from him. I may get the 1/32 B-17 as his price may be comparable. We'll see though.

retail is going to be higher then the spit and stang. something at the near two hundred mark.

No it's not... who says so? (We have a number that's not 100% confirmed so I won't say anything yet, but it should be no more than either of the two.)

So? Tamiya also lists the Spitfire IXc @ $172...when you can get it a number of places for between $100-120...

Yeah, but we're talking retail prices here FOR COMPARISON, not what you can do after waiting a while and then shopping around.

I wouldn't rely on MSRPs too much. Although it does correspond to Steven's wholesale price...

No doubt, but you were challenging him on his price, and I provided you the "who says."

Buy early! HLJ has had the preorder price at just under 100$.

I have the luxury of a local hobby shop... I'll buy from him in this case, even though it's more expensive, because I want to keep it open and healthy. Personal choice on my part, I know, and I don't expect others to feel the same way.....

Certainly not on most forums. Most of people in cyberspace would import it from Antartica I they thought they would save a nickle.

I used to until the owner of the hobby shop retired. we have not had one here in 10 years. So I have to either go out of town or mail order. No choice in that matter

I completely understand, but also hope that some of you would understand why I try to ensure I still have one ten years from now....

I have no problem supporting my local shop guy but on my limited amount of money I just can't afford to buy kits from him. Plus he doesn't carry any racing car models so I'm stuck. I will probably get the 1/32 B-17 from him though as he's already talked about working the price for me and the shipping alone is going to be killer. I'd rather just walk out with it.

I do buy all my paints and supplies so I'm always dropping 100$ or so in there every other week.

isn't the preorder price usually cheaper then what they sale it for?

Depends on the company - not everyone does pre-sale prices. I've also seen fire sales after the fact when a company bought too many and just wants them gone.... those are never a sure deal though.

Not sure if this came up before, haven't seen it in any pictures before...

And if anyone had any doubts as to where they measured things - there is a Vintage Wings of Canada flyer in the box as well.

My local specialist plastic purveyor had a stack of them in yesterday when I went to pick up my 1/72 scale Buran Orbiter. He had them for $141 Australian so I jumped on one even though it was not high on my want list. Not high but definitely there......:)

As a comparison I paid $20 more for my Mk VIII Spitfire kit and that was a few years back now, so overall the prices are good.

Cheers

Tony

There was never a doubt in my mind. But then again that is how I knew about the kit well in advance.
