Aigore
Janne, As usual you're making excellent progress. My only question and concern is the putty work around the front windscreen. Still looks a little rough compared to your usual standards. Joel Thanx Joel :D yup, well spotted.....one of the areas I need to better....same around the air brakes. Aigore
More work on the beuty spots :D Almost forgot about filling around the AJ style position lights....the JA has them at the wing tips. A wee bit work here and there....put on a thin coat of my liquid filler. This is the belly weaponstations....and they don´t look like I rmemeber them! A bit of oogling at refs and ythis is what I came up with.... the leading edges and the trailing edges are slanted, and some panellines are needed too. With the pylons fixed I glued them into place.... Then I polished the entire kit with 4000 grit sanding pad and applied another coat of primer....now we´re set for paint I think :D Cheers! erik_g
So, time to break out the masking tape and do a lot of polygons.. right? ;-) Went to bed with my Viggen kit and my copy of the Nordic Air Power Viggen book yesterday.. (yes, I'd rather take a sexy lady to bed, but lacking the lady I´ll have to make do with some Viggen porn..) Really want to get started on my kit.. but I guess I will have to reconstruct my man-cave first. Anyway, nice work, Janne. Will be nice to see you weathering this one. Troll
Looks great, as always! Will Tarangus release a AJ-37 or is that accomplished with aftermarket stuff? But I think MPM will release the AJ, SH and the SF if memory serves....

I think I would go for 37398 (F4-08). I like the freshly painted areas and newly applied high-wis markings. I feel it adds a little more character. Aigore
great build so far, i ordered the Nordic Airpower book yesterday. Did and of the D models have splinter camouflage? Thanx DarkKnight :D Yes, D models appeared in splinter cammo. External difference to the Di is the lack of the big blade antennas on the spine, They had the old style antennas. I've only seen one Di in splinter cammo, they weren't very common. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/4/4c/Saab_JA-37Di_Viggen_37326_26_(7668757846).jpg

Aigore
Preshade!! Moving along nicely... Here´s my two step preshade technique. First the conventional preshade along panellines.... The panelline preshade is the first step to create an interseting surface...not as much to shade every panel. The next step is the "squiggles", this really sets the mood of the surface and brings it to life after the paint is on. There, now the foundation of the weathering process is laid down......more steaps are to follow and the very very last step of this chain is when the flat coat is put on. Cheers! Aigore
Well....I got some paint on as well :D This is the base I start having fun from :D I shot FS36495 on the underside in many thin layers And then a base of FS 36329 on top....notice the "short" paint border on the nose, usually the paint border reached all the way on to the nose cone itself. I decided to go with 37498, sorry Johan :P More painting to follow.... Cheers!
Joel_W
Janne, A most interesting pre-shading procedure. Your method is a perfect solution to my issues with so many pre-shaded paint schemes that just don't look natural. For one, it doesn't look like you used Black but rather a dark gray that really helped it to tone it down. And the squiggles are a great start to natural random weathering. Will be using your basic method on my next build. Joel

Good thing I have a few pictures of my models in my phone. They seemed to do the trick. :wacko:/> It's only the pre-shading that I've stayed away from. I also use all those other post decaling tools, but your pre-shading adds so much to the base coat, it's going to be a must in my war chest moving forward.
