Serelle
Thanks Andy! I want to list every A-4 kit, in production or not! ;) Serelle
Guest klyveb
In 1/72 scale Airfix, Frog and Heller/Humbrol made the A-4 (The Heller may have been a rebox of the Esci) and I believe there's a kit by Starfix (see link) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Douglas-A4-Skyhawk-n...1QQcmdZViewItem Klyve
Dave Williams
In 1/48, Hasegawa at least did: A-4B, A-4C, A-4E/F, A-4H, A-4K, A-4L, A-4SU, A-4M, A-4N. Their P/Q kit was actually called "A-4B/C Falklands". ESCI also did the A-4E or F, and it was AMT (ex ESCI), not the other way around. Monogram did the A-4E/F and OA-4M in 1/48 scale. Fujimi did a A-4E and I think a TA-4 in 1/48 (actually 1/50) scale long ago. One thing to try is go to places with good search engines like HLJ or GreatModels and do a search for "Skyhawk". You should get a good listing of the newer kits that way. Edited February 8, 2006 by Dave Williams

Bugfan
Hey Serelle you should consider doing this for the aftermarket items too, that way we would have a definative list for us Skyhawk Lovers!! Just a thought, Jack aka BUGFAN
Serelle
I'm considering that also Jack, but that's a looooooong list and much more complex than kits. I'm working on a small publication for Brazilian modelers, actually a small book full of Brazilian Navy Skyhawk pics and walkaround shots to be used as reference to building our Skyhawks. I thought that a full list of available A-4 kits would be nice. Here in Brazil, aftermarket products should be bought abroad and that's not a very commom pratice within Brazilian modelers. Rob_Haelterman
1/100: Revell, A-4M there were others in this scale (there is a listing in the Detail & Scale on the A-4) I should check. HTH Rob
Serelle
You're right Rob... I forget the 1/100 scale. I think Tamiya had one in this scale also! :D Serelle
Serelle
Guys, just found an A-4M 1/72 scale from AMT at e-Bay. Does anybody know if it was a repop from another manufacturer? :D Serelle
Bandwagon 106
I remember buying a 1/48 A-4E/F done by Acadamy/Minicraft, it was 10 years ago, and had markings for VA12 & VA-22. It wasn't great, nothing like as good as Hasegawa's, but it was ok. It was my first skyhawk until Hasagawa cried havoc, and let loose the 'hawks of war!Never been the same since! Dave Williams
I think the Academy/Minicraft kits were reboxes of the Fujimi 1/50 kits. Testors reboxed them also.
Bandwagon 106
Thanks, Dave, it did seem a little bit smaller tham the Hase's
Superheat
Serelle, et al The Academy A-4s are knock-offs of the Fujimi kits (which are pretty bad, by the way, aside from being 1/50th scale), not reboxes. There was another Korean company (Idea?) that either reboxed the Academy kit, or knocked it or the Fujimi kit off. The Revell 1/100 kit is an M, originally produced by Takara in their Area 88 series. The Tamiya 1/100 kit is an E. The Matchbox 1/72 it is an A-4M, the first kit produced of the M. Do all non-suspecting and overly trusting modellers a great favor and leave the Starfix kit off your list - it is even worse than the Fujimi kit. Lindberg did a 1/48th A4D-1 kit, actually an XA4D since it includes the nose instrumentation boom, and Revell did an A-4 kit in the 50's in "box scale", don't remember what it was exactly. The AMT 1/48th A-4 kits were reboxes of ESCI kits, not the other way around, as Dave pointed out, and I think they reboxed some of the 1/72nd ESCIs as well, but I don't ever recall seeing the 1/72nd boxed as an M, though ESCI did box the 1/48th kit as an M/N, which it was not. In the late 60's-early 70's there was a marketing agreement between AMT, FROG and Hasegawa whereby kits from each manufacturer appeared in the other's boxes. I do not recall seeing a Hasegawa A-4 kit in an AMT or FROG box, but it may have happened. Certainly, if there is a FROG A-4 kit its provenance is Hasegawa. ITC had an A-4 in their Battle Damaged series of the late 60's that purported to be 1/72nd scale but was, in fact, a knock off of the Revell box scale kit frm the 50's, and noticeably over-sized And the last tidbit that comes to me is that a short-lived Japanese company of the early 70's named Central did a 1/72nd A-4C kit. I still have one, in a box, in a storage locker, somewhere in the world. Cheers, Tom

habu2
I think the Academy/Minicraft kits were reboxes of the Fujimi 1/50 kits. Testors reboxed them also. Correct, except that the Fujimi molds were raised panels, the Academy molds were changed to engraved.

Slartibartfast
So, why won't anyone check the 1:32 scale kit list? All are Hasegawa or Hasegawa/Minicraft A-4E 8131 A-4E/F ST2, S109, 8002, 8063, 8114, 8125, A-4F 103, 1109, 8147 OA-4M 51006, 51066 TA-4J ST24, 8024, 8121, 8126 As far as I can tell, there are only three molds. The different kits just reflect decal options.
aidy
serelle, fujimi also produced a super-f, kit no. 35132 in their 1/72 range. it's an a-4f kit with one fuselage sprue from the m with the 'hot-dog' antenna on the tail. now if only i could find some nice decals for it... jr_rules2
I've seen an Aurora 1/48 A-4 with blue angels markings at a flea market last year. Should of bought it. Guy was asking 5 Cdn. Might be a collectors item. <_<
