markiii
Hey All, just got this in the mail today and got started right away. Before starting, I inspected all the parts and took inventory,so far so good until I got to the seats. They are a bit short shot on the sides, so before doing anything I flowed super-thin CA around the thin areas and hit them with accelerator. Better now. Then on to washing, pics after the bath: I hope to make steady progress on this one, and now back to my regularly scheduled build, an Il-2. Mark

modelsntoys
I saw this kit at the local Hobby Shop this past weekend. I thought the kit looked pretty good, but held off buying it. I like to see some of the reviews before I buy a kit (unless I just HAVE to have it!!).
AnthonyWan
This should be an interesting build :D Good luck ;) On a side note...I notice there's no resin instrument panels...woulda been good to have those
markiii
This should be an interesting build :D Good luck :D On a side note...I notice there's no resin instrument panels...woulda been good to have those :D Yeah, I will have to improve those panels, but the kit has other positives: seperate nosewheel, turbine face molded seperate making it easier to paint. I did not make any progress today :( hopefully tomorrow I will have something. Mark
markiii
I'm back with a small update. I wanted to replicate the quilted pattern on the sidewalls. I used the foil packaging from surgical knife blades, the edges have an pressed pattern that looks the part. Just cut to size and ca'd on. I started putting rivet details on the wings. Thanks for looking. Mark

Suppose it woulld be a very nice build. :D Cheers and happy modelling! Alexander.

markiii
Another small update, have not worked on it as much as I wanted to. Here I have the sidewalls painted & drybrushed a little with MIG faded grey oil paint. This ^ is what the control stick looked like in my kit (looks short shot) and what it looks like after my mod. Sorry about the crappy pics. In this picture, I have outlined in black an area that has a funny depression, it is supposed to be a retangular shaped duct. So I have cut that area out and will insert a spare part from a Hasegawa kit. Started painting the cockpit tubs, I added some hoses and the box(?) that the hoses come out of, plus the throttle control (funny they are not included since there are holes for them).Still more detailing to do Nose gear bay painted & weathered a little, still some more work to do. Thanks for looking. Mark

markiii
Back with a mid-week update. Still working on the cockpit. Cockpit shot, seats in just for photo. Still have some details to add to them. Instrument panels all painted up. The left panel is a spare from a Hasegawa kit. That's all for now, I'll have another update this weekend. pacific mustang
great going. I am building this one myself. Your panels look superb, although you may want to check some rfs re the cockpit quilting, as I do not think rthe two seaters had it. Most jets seem to have had the unquilted sound proofing as CA have moulded. Fantastic idea with the foil though and regardless it will certainly add some texture and detailing to the cockpit. I am quite happy with the fit on mine, although you may need to thin down the intake trunking a little so the fuselage closes OK. You certainly look like you got a kit with QC problems, mine was OK. Keep posting update pics please. For all the excitement the release of this kit generated, yours is the first build I am seeing Regards Bruce
Jack-Swiss
Wooow markii...the painting is top notch indeed!!! i really like your job and the job done on the IP is superb, really makes it like a aftermarket IP...great job dude!!! Cheers

AnthonyWan
Looks sweet Mark! anyone know if its possible to use a spare wing/landing gear from a Hasegawa kit to stick into this kit? -Awan

I'm also surprised that with all the interest in this kit earlier that other builds are not being posted. Mark

Electra II
I'm also surprised that with all the interest in this kit earlier that other builds are not being posted.Mark Mark, I've been working on mine since the 4th of July weekend, but I'm not having the success you are displaying with your excellent work. So, I'm leery of showing my "potential disaster" in progress. Thanks for sharing your progress with us! Cheers, Mitch

Electra II
Mark, I hope you will forgive this question (I'm not meaning to hijack your thread), but I was wondering if you have installed the instrument panels, and, if so, have you tried fitting part A12 over the forward panel? I followed the instructions' diagrams as carefully as I could, and if I place A12 over the forward instrument panel as shown, it results in the forward windscreen not being able to fit at all. It (the forward windscreen) ends up sitting on top of A12 and not touching the fuselage at all. I apologize that I can't illustrate with a photo of what I'm talking about (camera is Tango Uniform). Thanks in advance if you can suggest a solution. Now back to your regularly scheduled thread! Cheers, Mitch

But yes it seems that part A12 is too big, I have a couple of spares from a Hasegawa kit and they are smaller. I'm also using a spare front instrument panel from a Hasegawa kit. I will post a pic when I get the pieces fitted. HTH Mark
