  1. Etch bridge windows are complete As is the funnel cap and one of the search light platforms The funnel cap was 11 pieces.......time for a drink Now I need to hit the cap and the inside of the funnel with flat black, the I can attach the platforms and paint the outside. By the end of the week I hope to start work on either the mast, or the cranes, I haven't decided yet. But, for now, it's time to start raking leaves for the day! More to follow...... Bill
  2. First level finished, just some minor touch ups to do I hope to have the upper portions finished by tomorrow so I can start the PE nightmare that is the bridge. More to follow........ Bill
  3. It irritates me how he cuts Alex off all the time, among a LOT of other things.
  4. Is it just me, or is like nails on a chalkboard?
  5. Great resource, thank you. Add that to the general thread and I'll see if I can pin it so the don't get lost in the mix.
  6. My instruction sheets end up looking the same way, like the first draft of a term paper!!! Great work on a challenging build!
  7. SWEET! This one is back on track! I love the work so far. I wouldn't worry too much about the grab irons, how many people are going to call you on it. I know this is a build with a personal connection, but worse things could happen to a model! Bill
  8. Thanks for the words guys. I'm really happy with this build and the way this kit goes together. In my opinion, Academy gets a 10 on this one, it's right up there with their Graf Spee premium edition.
  9. Digital music and movies are a dream come true in the military, they save so much space and weight. I just can't do digital books though.
  10. I'm lucky and have a good dealer in firearms and militaria near my house, and the two guys that run it are really stand up people, unfortunately, their web site sucks. But they do hold monthly auctions on proxibid. I get some things online, but not much, I like to be able to personally inspect stuff. There are a lot of fakes out there, and a lot of them are really good.
  11. Thanks Don, this is a great kit. Got a little painting done today. More to follow...... Bill
  12. Hell on Wheels is addicting, the best western show in a long time I think.
  13. I'm computer dumb, but what's the problem?
  14. There's still plenty of time to join in!!
  15. Ken Burns The Civil War is amazing, I have watched that repeatedly, over and over and over when it came out, on vhs, and now on dvd. Actually, last night I watched the episode The Universe of Battle.
  16. Ok, the first level of the forward is almost done, I ran out of paint, and I was at the LHS this morning for our club meeting! I still need to clean up a little more of the wash, do some touch up painting on the 40' swing booms, and install the railing then I can dull coat. As you can see I also installed the barrels on the casemate guns. I started the next level in the meantime until I can get more paint. The brass RDF shack is installed on the back of the superstructure, as well as the angle irons. The range clock is installed on the front. I really just need to touch up the seams
  17. I'm sure there are plenty of us here that collect Military relics. What do you collect and maybe share pictures. I collect a little of everything, but I tend to be drawn towards German navy; Kieserlichemarine, Riechsmarine, or Kriegsmarine. I'll post some pictures of my collection when I get a chance, but what do you collect? Bill
  18. Three months in! Swing by the pier and see the progress if you haven't already dropped in! Bill
  19. Outstanding job on a tough boat! I love how you've embraced the instructions as "guidelines"! My rule of thumb for railings is to add them to a level as you build up, that way it is easier to touch up paint on the insides as you go.
  20. I was kind of surprised the Kenetic f-18 thread didn't get locked down. I'm glad it didn't because it got back on track for the OP quickly
