  1. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the addition of external stores significantly increase the radar cross section, thereby reducing the stealth capability from which the aircraft was designed around?
  2. I'm always impressed when someone does a 1/72nd scale thats so detailed it looks 1/48th!
  3. Great looking F-16, love the NY markings, even though they're from Syracuse, NYC is still the best city in the world!
  4. Does anyone happen to have (or a link to) photos of f-22s that are weathered?, i.e. paint faded, panels replaced, RAM coating reapplied, etc. One of the problems of the huge pricetag of this thing is that they keep them fairly clean, I'm convinced its to annoy modelers that are into weathered aircraft :) Thanks
  5. Nice work on the paint job and finish!
  6. Nice paint work. Just out of curiosity, what are those giant pitot probe type things on front fuselage for?
  7. Does anyone have a 1/32nd decal of the green mig-29 kill star star for an F-15C?
  8. Looks like you've got some decals, I actually have the 1/48th size ones left over on the Two Bob's sheet as I only used the 1/32nd scale ones. If you'd like them, send me PM with your address and I can mail them to you.
  9. I'm about to do this particular F-15C, and was curious what these 3 "plates" are on the right wing, moreover does anyone make these in photoetch? I doubt it, so I'll probably scratch build build them, but I was curious anyways. Here's the link with the photo http://www.planepictures.net/netshow.php?id=256578
  10. Hey folks, I decided it was time to put a new paint job on a 1/32nd Su-27 Flanker I did a couple years ago, however, I don't feel like plunking down another $130 for a new kit. I once stripped Mr Color paint from an F-16 I did using their own thinner and applying it with a brush and letting it sit for a few minutes then wiping it off. However, that thinner isn't cheap and its getting harder and harder to come by these days. With that said, does anyone know if regular old lacquer thinner from the hardware store will work? Or will that melt the plastic? I suppose using a bottle of the thinn
  11. I just finished the Great Wall Hobby 1/48th MiG-29, what a great kit! It came together with hardly any filler or putty needed at all, really nicely engineered, with pretty much all the parts fitting perfectly, the bottom around the tail was a little bit off, but easily rectified with some putty and sanding. The build was OOB, with the exception of my "bootleg decal job" I used some decals from my Su-27 Demo Flankers sheet to create the markings of the MiG from Farnborough in 1988. To me, the traditional MiG-29 camo is a little boring, I know it has some sort of logo on the side of the intak
  12. My good man!, I've got a whole bunch of great reference photos for you of Blue 38! I actually built this one in 1/32nd scale, http://s362974870.onlinehome.us/forums/air/index.php?showtopic=256908&st=0&p=2436937&fromsearch=1entry2436937. Some of the reference photos show red 07, which is actually blue 38 prior to the aircraft being transferred to a different unit. However, reference photos which show the camo scheme from the top, are only from the Red 07 as the airplane presently is so weathered to the point of which pretty much all the paint has worn and faded into the primer!
  13. Really impressive work, possibly one of the best flankers I've seen!!!!
  14. Very nicely done pair of flankers you've done.
  15. My next project is an F-15C from Lakenheath that shot down a MiG-29 in Kosovo in 1999, does anyone know what would've been a combat loaded F-15C at that time? I'm pretty sure an AMRAAM was used for shooting down the Mig. Thanks so much!
  16. Great work, one of the best looking tomcat markings
  17. This kit was a Christmas gift from my girlfriend which I just finished yesterday. I have been doing a lot of rather intricate builds with resin and very detailed paint jobs lately and wanted a little change of pace with this one. It is entirely OOB except for the Afterburners Scooter Bandits decals. The kit went together really nicely and required only a small amount of sanding and filler. I found a picture of some TA-4J aggressors and found this pretty cool looking camouflage scheme. I also made custom decals and put her name on the pilots seat section of the canopy as well as mine on th
  18. When you look at a Mod Eagle, the 36176 appears almost purple when its new and not in direct sunlight, and after it fades it has a light bluish tint. However, on the F-22 it is really some sort of a dark grey, as to why it calls for 36176 I have no idea, I would imagine the Hasegawa instructions are probably a better representation.
  19. NIce work on a rather difficult weathering effect to achieve with an airbrush!!
  20. I can't tell if you've got future on top of the paint yet. If you don't have future down yet, try adding small amounts of white to the base color (gull grey I presume?) and "mottle" and blend the color, do this randomly over the whole plane, then do the same with the white on the bottom, but add small amounts of perhaps light ghost grey fs 36375, then use a little brown and/or black as a LIGHT mist to simulate overall grime, fs 36081 is a great color for this. If you don't have reference photos of a particular aircraft, try and find some others that show which panel lines are typically ligh
