  1. Love the leg brace! Looks like you had a relative that went in before you did?
  2. I'm pretty cold and without mercy. I never wish for the untimely end to good people, but one shouldn't be careless in the presence of your mortal enemy. In that view, I am proud we treated the Tu-16 crew with all the respect they deserve. That makes us human and respectable. I will admit that sometimes I want the Navy to shoot every down everything that approaches us to hype the Vladolf Putler Propaganda Parade. Thank God you guys help me to see things more sensibly.
  3. That's true. When it's time to fight, there will be flames rather than flybies
  4. can you take some pictures? I know some will make it out, but it's different when somebody from the forum is able to do this... :D
  5. From kret.com (the manu) "By the way, nowadays Khibiny is being installed on Su-30, Su-34 and Su-35, so the famous April attack in the Black sea on USS Donald Cook by Su-24 bomber jet allegedly using Khibiny complex is nothing but a newspaper hoax. The destroyer's buzzing did take place. This EW system can completely neutralise the enemy radar, but Khibiny are not installed on Su-24. Moskva"
  6. Did Moscow hire Baghdad Bob recently? "the infidels are committing suicide by the hundreds at the gates of Baghdad" No I did. It was the USS Essex in 1968. A pair of Badgers buzzed the Essex as a show of force. While trying to get pictures the lead plane's wingtip scraped the water. The Soviets said it was shot down, but the Navy released classified footage of it to the Soviets that showed otherwise. Then they changed the story to the pilot was avoiding a remotely piloted vehicle, but that was false as well. No survivors from the plane.
  7. I gave up on learning new planes but you proved me wrong! Very nice model and I love the subject you chose.
  8. She grasps the concept of hurry up and wait... "We're not the US Marines, why can't we just go?"
  9. Every time I see these Cy-24s doing passes I do a double take because they are dragging their rear ends around like Thunderchiefs. It's hard to be intimidated by them. I'm half way expecting them to go the way of the Badger that buzzed the Big E.
  10. Let's see... they are training rounds with lots of dirt build up. I don't see this as very realistic. I would have my guys working nights and weekends to keep those training rounds clean.
  11. We should all aspire to become as good of neighbors as these men.
  12. Of course, I'd like that to be the case. We shall see. In 30 years I think there will be a new form of hipster trying to impress his friends with an ironic source of 'fun' derived from "building those old plastic thingies."
  13. You'd be very surprised how much effort the jarheads put into keeping the jets looking clean. We know it's redundant and sometimes it seems a bit silly for a combat bird, but they bust their asses to scrub, scrub, scrub. Everything Marines learn about cleanliness and keeping a professional presentation gets carried over to the aircraft.
  14. I would love to see them change and improve. You can't just buy a take name and depend on that to keep you afloat. Look at Armalite... these guys are barely recognized anymore, but Springfield managed to keep it together a little bit longer. Could it just be that SQ is just too big to stand on its own right now?
  15. Check the company on the internet. Check the reviews VERY carefully. One pet health insurance plan takes a $30/month charges to pay for, but when it comes time to use it the insurance company denies coverage because EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN is somehow a pre-existing condition. Here's the Yelp page for the one my vets keep trying to sell us on, Trupanion: http://www.yelp.com/biz/trupanion-seattle-6 It has 2.5 stars because they are trying to get people to leave phoney reviews to balance out the horrendous reviews from the actual customers. This saved us from buying into this scam. Then th
  16. Incorporate more 3d modeling to physical modeling and it may survive for a little bit longer...
  17. Squadron should save the name and it should save the business. For the time being, it probably needs to concentrate on just a couple things it knows will do well. Also, Squadron has just flat out failed at judging the internet. The internet is all about freer information for most, and all this BS about listing MSRP in big letters, normal price in little letters, and the sale price in bold red letters just screams scam artist. The internet users know they can find better deals with less confusion, thus they avoid Squadron. Be up front with your price and info and people will love you. Insult ou
  18. I saw Scalemates but it just doesn't do it for me. It's a clunky site that I got discouraged from using in the intended manner. But possibly something similar but streamlined.
  19. Three or four of you brought up excel sheets, so I am floating this idea: I may start an online spread sheet that all members can contribute to. Each Person gets a page that lists their kits, conversion kits, status of these kits (including finished kits), including details such as scale, markings, links to pictures, etc. This will be an excellent way to feel who has what, follow certain trends, follow builds and finally it will be a way to make trade and sale offers :D
  20. I thought it would be cool to see what's on everyone's plates. Kits I'd like start: 1. 1/48 Arii Hellcat 2. Italeri 1/48 Sea Hurricane 3. Special Hobby 1/48 Fulmar 4. Revell 1/48 B-25J gun nose conversion to PBJ-1 gun nose 5. Trumpeter 1/48 MiG-23MF WIPs I need to finish: 1. Hobby Boss 1/48 FJ-4 Fury -- needs new canopy and weathering 2. Academy 1/48 MiG-29 -- stalled in painting 3. Monogram 1/48 Hawker Typhoon -- painting 4. Hobby Boss 1/48 UH-1C -- scratch building conversion to UH-1E
  21. Can we explain the white strip between the inner pylon and the gun pod? It's not where I normally would see paint.
  22. VFW isn't a public institution so they get to set their own rules, IIRC. VFW standards have no bearing on your veteran status. I don't qualify for VFW either, which makes me apprehensive about visiting and swapping stories with the folks their. I am eligible for AFL, which I plan on joining.
