  1. Ok you all! You guys caused me to pull the trigger! Ordered the Academy F-4B kit. Not sure if I'll join you all on this group build or not. For one I'm not that good two I have several kits started and have not touched them in forever. It all depends on how long it takes for this thing to come from Korea!
  2. I sent there US contact an Email earlier this evening. Well see how long it takes to get a response and part. I'm not in a real big hurry to build it. Just want it for the future. I have yet to complete a model of any kind in awhile. Was building cars since it is easier to display in a 1 Bdrm apartment than aircraft models. I just started the Revell F/A-18E super hornet kit. Going to try and complete this one. Navy Recruiting Office will probably be its home. Haven't decided that part yet.
  3. At the prices they charge (which in my opinion are over priced)there quality control is failing. Very disappointed in there kits now. Is there a better 1/48 F/A-18 kit out there?
  4. Has anyone had a problem with Hasegawa's F/A-18C kits having broken wing tip on either wing? I just received a second kit with the forward part broken off. This time it was not just broken but missing all together. The last one was in the sealed bag and just required glueing back on. This one is no where to be found. Not even the protective sprue tree is in the bag. It is part A1 that I am talking about.
  5. Looks like you guys have talked me into buying this kit. I was looking at getting the Academy VF-111 F-14 kit. But after reading this thread I have changed my mind! Thanks for all the great info on this kit!!!!!!
  6. I have never built or seen a kinetic model. But I say the more the merrier! To me the pricing of today's kits are a bit inflated. The 1/32 shouldn't be coasting over 100. I can see 70.00ish but not over that. So if they come out with one and its cheaper than the others with even half the quality it is ok with me. Now a question for you guys that have built there kits. How were the kits quality? Fit, etc wise. Don't want to **** anyone off just my two cents.
  7. What are the projected dates and rules? I have an Hasegawa 1/48 F-4S Hi-Grade Series kit CH10 kit and a Hasegawa 1/72 F-4J HM2 kit. Just been sitting in my closet since 1990. Been a little scared to work on the Hi-Grade kit. I bought this thing at the NAS Atsugi hobby shop for 27.90 on Decmber 5, 1989. Seen the price state side and stashed it away. Maybe its time for it to come to life!
  8. Guys I need pics of VFA-151's birds as soon as someone gets some. I'm a former Vigilante (1988-1990 F/A-18A) and would like to see what our birds look like in new skin.
  9. Need some input on this company? Has anyone state side used this company and what are your opinions? I feel I may have made a mistake placing an order with them, should have asked this before hand.
  10. I was just looking for in general outlook. Im considering getting the VF-111 Sundowners model and maybe the new F-4. I heard somewhere that they were using the retired Hasegawa molds. But never heard a confirmation on this rumour. I like the Hasegawa kits but no the price. They are over priced in my opinion and Im looking for a less expensive alternative.
  11. I have two questions about Academy models for you guys. 1. are they using old Hasegawa molds? 2. If not, How good is their quality ( fit, instructions and decals )?
  12. I have been on the gallaries page looking at some very, very nice models. Now I have a question for you guys. How do you all get the wing smear to look so good? Tips on how it's done would be apreciated.
  13. The buno # is assigned when the aircraft was ordered. It will never change and follows the aircraft threw out its career with the Navy/Marine Corps. Hope this helps you!
  14. Thanks for the tip on the location Bob. Only problem is that the only beezwax I have found at dollar stores and Walmart is lip balm with vitamins and lotions in it. Any other ideas? Can someone post a pic of the label of there beezwax product? Thanks again all, sorry for the pestering for the info. You all should have seen the strange looks from the sales people in theses stores when I asked for it. They all said beezwax for hair! Looked at me like I was crazy or something.
  15. Matrixone Where did you buy your beeswax at? I looked at my local Hobby Lobby and all they had was the hard block candle type beeswax.I need to get some so I can have on hand when I do get the chance to use my CR. Thanks in advance for the info to who ever replies with the location.
  16. Just picked some milliput up at Hobby Lobby. I have a question for you all? One of the guys said to use a razor saw to scribe panel lines. Can't we just use a scribe to scribe the lines before it dries completly?
  17. I just recieved my new Iwata Revolution CR and have yet to use it but it seems to be outstandingly made. I have an Iwata Eclipse BCS and its been a great air brush. I would recomend getting an Iwata no matter which one it is!
  18. According to the local Hobby Lobby manager they no longer make special orders for anything outside the frame shop. I tried to get them to order some MM FS16440 paint and they informed they don't do that. Just an FYI guys.
  19. Richard Thanks did not know that that company exsisted! Been away too long I guess!!!! Been trying to work on car models for the past 14 years since I dont have room in my apartment to display aircraft. But been wanting to build one for awhile. Now is the question of which kit, which A/C? Right now Im just kicking ideas around in my empty noggin and see what falls out. Thanks again!!!!
  20. Thanks to all that responded with the information. Now I have a new question! Does anyone have a set of 1/48 scale VF-111 Sundowners decals (high viz)they are not going to use. I buy them or trade for them. The kit has VF-143 Pukindogs decals. Nothing wrong with that squadron. Just prefer VF-111. I was suppose to transfer to that unit till my career counselor tried to screw me on transfer dates so he could get a nice little bonus. I looked on eBay and found some old Revell decals. Tried a set of old decals on another model and they were crap and coast me way more than I should have paid. Any h
  21. Guys/Gals Looking for information for the proper FS paint number for an F-14A of VF-143. Non low viz scheme ( Gray over White), I think its 16440 but not sure and also need advice on what color is needed for leading edge of wings and horizantal stabs? Any help would be appreciated! I have the Academy 1/48 F-14A kit and it only says gray on instructions. Thanks in advance for any help I recieve.
