  1. When, oh when, are you people going to learn? You can't successfully argue your cases in this forum. You have nothing to gain discussing this here, other than total frustration. Take the advice of my PR company, "Just say nothing in a public forum you don't control. You will only make it worse and broaden the misconceptions already out there" How many minds do you think have been changed since this started? Somebody please take the high road. You've taken something that really no one was discussing or really cared about about for the most part, and would have just gone away if you left it a
  2. Finally, at least someone gets it. What he is proposing is NOT illegal. Let's remove that from the discussion.
  3. I sympathize with the difficult quest of trying to explain your position. Sadly, I don't believe you will get a fair trial in this venue.
  4. I do have a bit of a theoretical science background, so this would be my observation: First, assume a synchronous orbit. Second, assume the tether can support its own weight and for the purpose of simplicity, assume gravity plays no role on the tether and the tether itself acts neutrally on the satellite unless a third party interacts with the tether. The object in space, if in pure space, would not have mesurable centrifugal forces acting on it. A pull on the tether by anyone, would bring the satellite down to earth. Here's another one to ponder... Because the centrifugal force imparted by
  5. Jack, I want to confirm you received my PM? I'm never sure I send those things correctly! Larry
  6. "It is important to understand that by law retailers are free to sell at whatever price they wish. Manufacturers cannot dictate the price at which a retailer sells the manufacturer’s products. The retailer can sell above or below the MSRP as they choose. In fact, if a retailer chooses to sell the manufacturer’s products at a loss they are legally entitled to do so. This complete pricing freedom has in some instances been used in an attempt to damage the brand value of various manufacturers. In response, to protect the value of their brand name, more and more manufacturers are implementing
  7. Manufacturers sometimes try to gain market share by producing better quality, thinking this is what buyers want. Of course, quality usually costs more, so in most cases this tactic fails. This means they stuck producing an item with higher manufacturing costs but the same shelf price as the cheaper guys. Cheaper guys continue selling and making more profit than the good quality guys, good quality guys either lower production costs or go out of business. I know it's not the popular stance, but I'm very sympathetic to small business guys trying to ensure a certain level of profit in order to c
  8. Most of the reason why manufactures don't go direct is because they don't generally work that way. Manufacturers work for business people who need manufacturing. You design something, tool & die makers create dies and molds, you take those to a manufacturer, and he quotes how much it'll cost you. You market, you distribute, etc. etc.
  9. I agree it should be free market, but... ...you must be willing to pay the price of "Free Market". Some of which is the massive transference of manufacturing and assembly jobs to other countries, call centers in India, China, etc. There is only two options in business, raise your price to cover costs and show and profit, or lower manufacturing costs. Prices are driven so low in a free market on some products that the only way to continue profitably, is to either raise your price and hope competitors do the same or, lower productions costs to give you more margin to work with. This is partial
  10. Never feel bad about deciding to trash one. As a matter of fact it has a lot of therapeutic value if you do it right. I have pummeled a kit into dust and I gotta tell ya, it felt pretty good. Never just "Toss it out", make it pay!
  11. The paint is definitely too thin, no question. Also, I would suggest you turn the air pressure down to about 12psi. It's not the tape or a cat.
  12. Well, ah, E... I checked into this and it, ah, turns out that you're, ah... right. It was a shipping mistake. Listen, they're really, really sorry about the mix up. Yeah, yeah... that's it... sorry, really sorry. I have offered to mediate the situation. If you would just package up the new brush and send it to me, I will expedite shipment of the replacement PARTS you require. Don't thank me... glad to do it.
  13. Oh man... this is best category yet! Hobby Shop Know-It-Alls... The answer is - "You couldn't possibly make me enjoy this hobby less" and the question... "Listen, if you can't master something as basic as hiding a seem, then why are you buying aftermarket stuff?"
  14. lunatic. Meant in the most respectful and jealous way possible. ;)
  15. This works way better than most people think and is very easy. I prefer to use this than the side windows provided in the kit. A little polishing and a dip in Future and they look way better in my opinion.
  16. The answer... "$223" The question... "What is the cost to build a 1/48 Tamiya Corsair, if you want to hang with the Big Boys?"
  17. and the answer is... "Only if the tin foil was scrapped off some stamping on the box lid. Even then, that was technically "on" the box, not in it" The question.. "I made seat belts out of foil for the kit, is it still considered OOB?
  18. You're welcome! I was just reading through some posts and felt like having some fun...
  19. Hello and welcome to the new hit game show “Aircraft Model-maker Beliefs†I’m your host lyin’ Larry Lightning. Let’s introduce today’s contestants… Contestant No. 1, and our returning champion, is Solitary Sal. He’s written a book entitled “Right Intake, right planeâ€. Funny enough… it’s selling like hot cakes! Welcome back Sal! Contestant No. 2 is perpetually perfect Peter Perfection. Peter works at the local hobby
  20. If they're so flippin' good, then where the heck is my WingScale B25??? Eh??? Come on... you're hording them aren't you? Don't give me the "WingScale hasn't shipped yet" stuff! I'll bet every member of your family has one by now... ingrates. (Just in case someone doesn't know... I am just kidding)
  21. Yeah! That's the trap of this place! The swirling vortex of "Man mine looks like crap compared to...". I used to be happy gluing kits together with that kit glue in a tube... God those were the days! Number one, buy a set of water colour paints. The kind you buy for kids in the metal case with 25 solid colours in them. There are times when water colour add just the effect you want, they don't damage the paint job and wipe right off but only work well in certain conditions. Although I haven't used the mig powders for doing this, I do scrap artist chalk or pastels into a container, add a little
  22. I'm going to give this a shot. I've said many times over that for me, all of the enjoyment and satisfaction of this hobby comes from; finding something cool to build, the actual building process, goggling over my finished masterpiece, the praise and appreciation I get from other people. I have built hundreds of models. There are NONE in my house, I build them for others and give them away. I can honestly say that once I give them to someone, deep down I really don't care where they go or what happens to them. The finished work just means I get to work on another one. I equate it to an artist
