  1. That line marks the place in the engines were the most fast moving parts of the engine are located. So in case of an emergency just stay clear of that line and anythng behind it, because you might be hit by parts flying away from that area
  2. Had a nice little parcel on my breakfast table this morning, containing the cockpit. Talk about a nice surprise Thank you Greg and all te others involved
  3. AFAIK they were used for some trials, but currently they are not capable (at least the german ones). Mainly because the main focus of the Tornado was to attack behind enemy lines, and not doing CAS with AGM-65.
  4. The black one will be preserved The Phantoms were leaving because the base is about to be closed
  5. Woohooo  >My first GB and I won something :) Great expierence, I had a great time. Thanks to all the mods and the sponsors that made it possible....see you in the next GB :D
  6. I guess clusterbombs especially designed to kill and maim people are rated as "inhuman". I guess thats one of the reason why they are building "intelligent" ammunition like the CBU-87/97, that mainly targets vehicles. otoh arent any weapons "inhuman"? A specific rates of duds in a cluster bombs is something that military planers are to like I guess. At least it hinders the enemy to pass through specific areas without having to worry over possibly being blown apart.
  7. Too bad Leuwarden so so far away. Will have to save up for the gas It will be a great show, and one can compare the displays of the europaen teams and the Blue Angels display.
  8. That Nimrod will end up in my stash, either its Mr.2 or Mr.4
  9. You know that DO-27 in Norm83 and all Luftwaffe markings? It looks as if it belongs to the Luftwaffe, with all the national insignias and the numbers and stuff. but its owned by a private flying club, and has a civilian registration number. I guess the pilot of that Do-27 is over at the FF
  10. Its a private owned jet. The owner just didnt removed the german markings...
  11. There was an article some time ago, that stated an gouverment official. This guy said, that most missles are stored on US bases near Taiwan (e.g.Guam) and not on Taiwan itself....
  12. with about 4 weeks to go I did at lest some decaling...(Airdoc)
  13. Great job ! Now I am just throwing away my F-4G in Euro1. Its looking great...maybe I should finally change to 1:48
  14. It was released by Italeri, Bilek, Tamiya, raised panel lines, weapons included: Standard, Shrike and Sidewinders, Decals for a USAFE bird from Spang in Hill, and an Israeli bird. I just measured the parts of my Hasegawa F-4E and the F-4G made by Italeri/Bilek. The latter is a little bit, about 1mm at the most, smaller than the Hasegawa bird. So it might involve some dry fitting and sanding to melt those kits together, but it might work out ok
  15. same here, and I just have to do the decaling....
  16. About the F-18 you are correct. IIRC the dayglo drop tank on those F-5s are there to mark them as "aggressors". The swiss do not put a nice artwork on them, they just use these tanks and missles
  17. so, aall the paint is applied, now the fun can begin: decals...to make it even worse: The Bilek kit has no provision were to put those slime lights. So one has to "trial and error" until they are on the right spot, working closely with a lot of reference pics. The bird will be armed with a HARM and a Mav and some gas bags I guess. A typical training load imho. On the other hand I saw Spang birds with Harm, Standart and Mavs all on the same bird ;)
  18. There is a pitch black Phantom flying around in Germany nowadays, but this is just the primer for a special c/s. A black Hog, no that would look nice
  19. Same here. As kids we found around 20-30 fire bombs and normal bombs, shell casing up to a huge caliber, thousands of machine gun ammo. Luckily most of the stuff was already used. I later read, that in our town some of the last Tiger tanks were destroyed. Maybe I should make a walk today and take some pictures of bunkers and stuff
  20. Hey that F.3 looks like the one I intend to do. Which color did you use for the F3 Radom? Seems much better than the neutral grey I used
  21. lol, I've took a picture from nearly the same spot on Eggebeck Airday :P
  22. I wish I had more of that kit  The kit is great. The fit is, with the usual care, great. Just some putty and sanding required around the intakes. Otherwise its ok
  23. Jon Lakes Phantom - Spirit in the Sky great book. Do I have to say that I might order more of his books if they are all that good
  24. I use one of the bigger moisture traps, that go between the regulartor and the hose. I brushed during the last few weeks in the regular german summer/autumn and now the trap is nearly half full with water
