Hi Peter, I fixed the second link.

I think that a burnt metal with a hint of copper would be just fine. Here are two links to two preserved S.79, one restored and the other as found in the desert: https://goo.gl/photos/fFgNYMRf6L2Jwtbz9 https://goo.gl/photos/CgoTbH5X74duLsBL6

From http://rbogash.com/Annex.htm: USAF Cessna O-2A (Model 337 Skymaster) USAF 67-21363 FAA registr: N18BB. Airworthy; flies regularly. This airplane flew about 3000 hours of combat air time primarily as a FAC (Forward Air Controller) during the Viet Nam war. But I'm not sure that it flew with that marking...

The photos in the manual (available here: http://www.ww2aircraft.net/forum/other-mechanical-systems-tech/polish-pzl-p37-5078.html)seem to show a dark color and it could be the dark blue-gray used also in the PZL P.23 similar to the U.S.Intermediate Blue. See on the matter this link: http://cs.finescale.com/FSMCS/forums/p/95509/934098.aspx

Sorry to disappoint you but the device in the wing is the landing light: the Safir had two of these, one in each wing. I would suggest to ask for information the owners of these websites: http://www.fcfk.com/safir/ http://biphome.spray.se/mats.nordlund/safirhpeng.htm Maybe they have the infos you are looking for. Cheers
