  1. Very very nice. Thanks for posting this. I will follow along until you finish for sure.
  2. A few videos and why the airbrush is preferred. He mentions thinning the top coat. Scott already mentioned multiple thin layers. After a few tries you will get the hang of it, and decide if you like how it makes your models look. Keep asking questions and trying things out. Practice will make perfect.
  3. Brian, Thank you, that is the word that I should have used. Promising.
  4. I found some nice close ups. Some really nice detail. Great stuff. Aeroscale
  5. Looks very nice to me. LSM Facebook Linky This is a 3d printer test if I understand this correctly. Lots of internal detail.
  6. Here are some great pictures by Mr. Jonathan Mock. Linky
  7. On second thought, getting another kit is the best way. Some folks use white glue for the canopy. Pacer 560 or Gator Grip
  8. Well, this is a good learning experience. My first kit was a complete disaster. CA glue all over the place same as you. Posting pictures is a good start so that we can see what fixes can be suggested. You might be able to save the canopy with a round of sanding and polishing, the decals, well, maybe someone here can donate or sell you a sheet? Failing that, you can contact Revell for the purchase of new parts: Revell Even if you cant rescue the kit, keep it. It will become a technique test mule. Preshading, post shading, camo masking, salt weathering chipping etc etc etc.
  9. Wow! Just amazing. I dont have facebook, sooo, found this post over on LSP Airfix Typhoon Way to go Airfix! Sea Vixen, Javelin, and those new 1/72nd kits are amazing. Thank you you!
  10. Take a look at this video. Sure it is for a tank, but I think the technique is transferable. Turn off the sound on your system. I did not like the song myself. This is just one way really. Remember to use good quality oil points, and that less is more. Pointy brush to apply the oil/thinner & a flat style brush to create the streak effect. The modeller also looks to take a fair bit of the thinner off the brush onto the towel which matches the AK videos also on Youtube. Hope this helps.
  11. This may be a good reference: Tornado SIG Mr. Taylor(R.I.P) has some great advice in this article re things to strengthen : Ted Taylor I like the kit. It may have a few things that need updating/correcting, but, it is very impressive when built. Here is a build with an idea on the wings: 1/32 build I have yet to find or hear of seamless intakes for this kit. I wonder if anyone may do a partial set i.e. intake to engine face?? Is that feasible?
  12. Thanks for informing me of these added attractions. It would be fantastic to see the volunteers in action singing happy birthday, what a laugh. Hopefully someone can post a video? I hope that everyone that goes has a great time.
  13. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun. I am looking forward to seeing pictures. One of these days I will go.
  14. Very nice kit. I think the only reason to get the Academy kit is for the weapons. If you want the newer weapons is it possible to order the weapons sprues from Academy? IIrc the Promdeller F-15E has more of the older weapons?
  15. Some acrylics brush better than others. For example the Vallejo Model colour and Panzer aces brush paint very well from what I am told. I have heard that Tamiya paints can be a bit touchy when being brush painted. Always test your paint/technique on something before working on the real kit.
  16. Looking forward to the review. Thank you for posting the link to your current method. Very informative.
  17. Welcome back. I agree that a scimitar would be nice.
  18. The Trump version looks to build up okay if you want a fun build. It may meet your requirements depending on what you are looking for. See post 7 in this thread. LSP P-51
  19. Very nice post. Thanks for sharing it. It was awesome of the Captain to notice that you were having a not great day, and to turn it around like that.
  20. Film options: Art Store Film Probably also get it at Michaels etc etc. Hase version Your LHS should be able to order it I expect? Ebay listing Me, I'd go to the bulk store/party/cake decorating place, then the art store. Ordering from EBAY or overseas seems a bit on the pricey side. I only included the links to be thorough and provide options.
  21. Air supply option: portable air tank Could always tell your parents that it can be used to fill up tires etc. As with the tires/tubes previously mentioned, it will need refilling, probably at the local gas station. You will need to plan your airbrushing so that you do not run out of air mid session. You may need an adapter from the tank outlet thingy to the airbrush hose. 1) Work in a well ventilated area 2) Never airbrush around others 3) Respirator: Respirator Smithery offers excellent advice. Go to a safety supply store and get a fitting and training. No idea what the big box har
  22. Thank you Chuck for sharing this technique. It is a challenging paint scheme, but it looks worth trying out to me.
  23. Thank you Chuck. I will follow the advice and find some more pictures and practice practice practice. Thanks for the tip on the clear layer. Not like I ever mess up and need to repaint a kit..no not me lol.
  24. Thank you for your answer. I just read about the spaghetti technique. And I think that this is the right way to go. Of course that means trying different sizes of spaghetti, but it looks to work. Technique is: 1) Airbrush the surfaces to receive the squiggles in the squiggle colour 2) Boil appropriately sized pasta 3) Lay pasta in squiggle pattern down on the surface of the kit 4) Paint the 2nd colour 5) Rinse model with warm water Dont eat the pasta after painting! Whoever came up with this, it is a great idea. Edit for typos. Where is my coffee?!?!?!
