PhantomPhixer74
Sky Crane hangin' at the Vernal, Ut. airport on fire fighting duty. The support guys and the pilots were very accomidating about answering questions and letting you get close around the bird. The photo below was taken through the chainlink fence before I found out I could go around to the other side of the airport and walk right out to the aircraft.

This was one I had taken at the 2012 Baloon Fest, its the SAR Huey they got years ago from the USAF. Nice bird, more photos to follow...

Merlinn
You know, most of us "air heads" are museum freaks and can spend days and days visiting them. During my crew chief days I was on a trip to Hurlburt field and spent two days visiting Eglin, Hurby and P-Cola just at the museums. My assistant crew chief told me that was the first trip he was on that the "boss" wanted to something other than drink during our time off! I love it. I appreciate all the volunteers and staffs at these museums that spend a lot of TLC on the aircraft and displays so we can enjoy them. That said, today I was very shocked to see this. (Photos below.) This is an MH-53M Pave Low IV, s/n 68-10369 on display at the Hill Aerospace Museum. It's last flight was to Hill AFB on September 18, 2008. I don't know for sure when they towed it into the museum but one would think that in the past six months someone would have cleaned the bugs off the windshield!! I don't know what to think.... Mark I had the pleasure of being Crew Chief on this particular helicopter during my second tour in Hawaii. She set, along with 68-10360, the record for the longest rescue ever flown completely over water along with several squadron records. She seemed to love to fly. She always flew best when she had a few "bug splats" on her face. I'm glad she had the honor of being the last Air Force H-53 to fly, even if she did go to a "desk job".
