Troll Posted February 14, 2015 Share Posted February 14, 2015 You mean the canard flaps? they point to the main wing roots...so they should droop enough Since the canard flaps are the only flaps on the 37, yes those are the flaps I'm talking about! ;) The flight controls on the main wing are called elevons. And although they do move 4 deg. with the flaps, they do so to counteract the pitch up moment of the flaps. A sort of auto-trim, if you wish. It was hard to tell from the pics, if they were pointed at the root or not. I had hoped I could catch you doing something stupid... Aigore Posted February 14, 2015 Author Share Posted February 14, 2015 The weathering continues... I made a thin wash from black and burnt umber and put it on the panellines... I put on the wash yesterday and started removing it today with a cotton cloth made from an old T-shirt The wash really stuck to places and I had to use white spirit and cotton wads to get to the wash.... what little remains gives a nice filtering effect. MoFo Posted February 15, 2015 Share Posted February 15, 2015 Interesting to note, after looking over my kit: the Tarangus have the canards more or less correct in the decal drawings, but wrong in the plastic. Weird. The tail is wrong in both, though. Also on the subject of canards, what's with the weird, curved tips? I thought that Viggen canards had straight tips? Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Here´s the look I´m going for... http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/8/3/4/0797438.jpg Here´s the other side... note the dirtier look on the rear of the aircraft, it´s due to to oil leaks from the finfolding mechanism, it gathers dirt and smears all over the rear. http://cdn-www.airliners.net/aviation-photos/middle/5/3/9/0763935.jpg Anyways time to get dirty! I use a strip of tape to illustrate the structural ribs and how dirt acumulates along their rivets, in this scale the rivets are really too small to be seen so this really a nice way of illustrating the effect of fuel and oil seaping through and gathering dirt. I used the Tamyia black pigments for this, applied them with a wet brush and smeared them with a makeup applicator spunge. I worked my way along the fuselage keeping an eye on the refs... Here´s the right side done as well. And the bottom...really grimey belly on this beast. Not that much grime on the top side tho... Then I sealed with a flat coat and this is how it looks all finished :D There´s dirty and grimey for you :P What´s left top do now? Well the wheels, lights, antennas and the weapons...so we´re not done yet :D Cheers! Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Thanx Andrew :D Kind of pleased as well... it´s not an over the top weathering but I´ve still got to use my artistic side. A lot of techinques comes together to a one whole and it´s not done until the last flat coat is in Place. Most of which I intend to incorporate into my up coming builds other then my up coming NMF P-47D. I really like your technique of using masking tape to control bleed through to just one side. Aigore Posted February 18, 2015 Author Share Posted February 18, 2015 (edited) Got on with the fiddley stuff today... First of all, it stands on it´s own legs now! ...yay! Here are the spine antennas, two dogtoothed antennas that are typical for Di mods and a little datalink antenna....the data link is in the wrong place however, I should have checked that before I painted and weathered :/ The correct place is to at the other end of the panel it´s on, that is between the rear of the air outlets instead of the front....and it was the wrong shape to so I made the antenna from plasticard. You wonder why I didn´t put it in the correct place since I made a new antenna...well the antenna in the box comes with a base that fits into a big hole in the spince. I should have filled the hole but I didn´t notice it was wrong until it was too late....sorry :P/> The rear radar warner, it´s does not come inb the box so you have to make one from a bit of sprue and sand it round. The radar warner in the JA is a ball but in the AJ and earlier versions its a triangular box....probably why it´s not molded on, Tarangus forgot to make the parts tho :P/> MLG doors...I had to do some surgery on decals again to make zeros, the company markings are wrong...I stole them from the two bobs sheet for a F13 Viggen but they look better than nothing. The extra tank weathered and ready :D/> Made the rear antenna from plasticard since the one in the box didn´t look right.... The landing gear doors in place... And the small pipe thingies are added to each side......fragile stuff. A little over view of todays progress :D/> Not done with the antennas and probes yet....a GPS bubble need to be made for the spine and IFF antennas for the belly. Then we have the ground speed pitot, angle of attack probe and surface temperature probe to put in place...not to mention the pitot tubes :D/> Cheers!
