82Whitey51
How does the Heller kit compare with the AMT/ERTL & reboxed as Italeri KC-135R kit? Pretty sure it is the same kit, same plastic...
habu2
Pretty sure it is the same kit, same plastic... Well if that's the case I already have the AMT kit so I'll pass. Also just checked the link and, with 2 kits remaining, the price is now $60.57 :(
Trojan Thunder
The Heller kit comes with the wingtip drogue pods that were not originally included with the AMT kit. Italeri kit also has the Drogue pods. That is the only difference (other than decals), else it is all AMT plastic.
caudleryan
I got halfway through building one of the Heller kits. I then threw it against the wall. It wasn't the fit of the kit, it was the type of plastic they used. Some of the panel lines were really faint. When I tried to rescribe them, the plastic literally flaked off in chunks, like it wasn't mixed good enough. It did respond well to Tamiya extra thin, though. I finally got fed up with trying to fill the holes left when chunks of plastic fell off. I kept the wings and the refueling pods, landing gear and the clear parts. I chunked the fuselage. Jennings
Heller and Italeri versions also have a second air cycle machine intake which if required for the French C-135F/FR, something the original AMT kit didn't have.
ElectroSoldier
Is it actually the same kit or is it just broken down the same?
caudleryan
Same kit, just with the extra intake and the pods. I even used the original AMT wings on the Heller kit.
ElectroSoldier
So the intake has been cut into the old tool? Does that mean the new Italeri kit will also have the intake on both sides?
Spruemeister
The dual air inlets are on the R and ARIA sprues. The new Italeri release of the A model still has the single air inlet. I just checked mine. Rick L.

Jennings
The part was added by somebody after the original tools were cut in 1991. You still have to open up a square hole in the lower wing center section part to drop the intake part into.
ElectroSoldier
Where is this part? I dont think Ive ever seen it
