Laurent
Well, good luck. As a big MiG-21 fan, this is a kit that I couldn't build without making big modifications to it: Shortening the fuselage, making a new canopy. Anyway, I haven't seen it built-up for quite a while and I'll be following your build. What paint did you use for the cockpit ? Cheers. Laurent
saintsdave
Laurent The Paint is Vallejo Sky Blue with Emerald Green added until it looked right DAve

TedTaylor
Guys did you know that that Mig 21 was one of Matchboxes best sellers. it was one of 19 kits that sold over 1,000,000 copies each. just for your entertainment. Ted.

TedTaylor
looks like you both did your bit for the good of the firm. we used to have a 50,000 run at the first shoot in those days but I doubt if those figures can be matched today too many X-boxes and PS-2s around Ted
saintsdave
Temporary set back, the masking tape leaked so I have to redo some areas again

saintsdave
Just to prove i'm still around. If the experimental results work on this the different colours & finishes sholud give different affects to the NMF Dave
Laurent
If the experimental results work on this the different colours & finishes sholud give different affects to the NMF It should work. It did here: http://www.arcforums.com/forums/index.php?...1&st=&p=entry I used Alclad paint.
Henrik B
Yep, I tried that also on a recent F-86 and was VERY pleased with the results. The shade was the same, but the black gloss panels had quite a different sheen (MUCH more reflective) and I thought it looked pretty realistic. Next time I thought I should experiment with other gloss colours and even a Future'd panel to see if it was the black or the gloss that did the trick. I used brushed-on Humbrol Metalcote for the NMF, which went on very smooth with the brush.
