Raymond
hiya heres my first build im working on: a 1/72 Academy MiG-27 sans suffix. This aircraft was originally designated MiG-23BM...which i think is a better designation as its a close relative to the MiG-23BN - featuring the same nose, fins and other features. Ill be modeling a MiG-27 based in what is now turkmenistan, on the border with Iran - keeping in line with my "armpit of the soviet union" fetish i have, according to zmey  This kit is a great compliment to the zvezda kit, which covers the more known and significantly different MiG-27K, and i hope to build both to show the huge difference between early and late floggers! starting with the cockpit: replaced the seat with a zvezda item, added a pilot, decals, and a new instrument panel..and scratchbuilt the area under the windscreen. Sebastijan
I hope the gap behind the cockpit will not pose too much problems when you glue the front part to the fuselage... shouldn't the cokcpit be the famous russian cockpit green?
janman
shouldn't the cokcpit be the famous russian cockpit green? Spotted that too. We demand turquoise!

ChernayaAkula
Nice start! What's the reason of the gap immediately aft of the cockpit? Is that from the kit - or do you have it like that on purpose?
Raymond
Nice start! What's the reason of the gap immediately aft of the cockpit? Is that from the kit - or do you have it like that on purpose? hiya! well academy decided though in a few bonus errors when they repoped the hase kit! if u glue the nose on as is: it angles up from the fuselage, and meets in the middle of the aircrafts crosssection, instead of being drooped!! so one has to glue the nose on at an angle to get the correct 'droop' on the nose! all puttied up, have started sanding, will post pics when its ready for painting! :D
janman
Throw us those pics Ray, won't ya! I'm excited to see a genuine Soviet Flogger from you!

janman
Yeah! Finally! Nice work with the pit! The stenciling on the head rest is a nice touch. Especially when it's so visible on a real aircraft.
dragan_mig31
nice pit
madmike
Nice recovery Ray. Looking good. Should the cockpit be a bright green typical of Soviet stuff? My bottle of Aeromaster Soviet cockpit green is almost lime green. I started on the little Ozmods MiG-15 kit but decided to do something a different. I am starting to look at aircraft models with less indifference than 4 months back which is good. MikeJ
