Hi everybody!

Maybe for some of you these pics wont be new as I started this build about 8 months ago from now and was posting the pics on some known helo forums...

I decided to start a thread here on ARC in hope to get some opinions/suggestions from expirienced aircraft modellers here. The subject is Special Operations MH-47E used by 160th SOAR "Nightstalkers" in 1/35 scale.

It is a deep conversion of Trumpeter D version kit. New nose, new cockpit, Radar pod, new front pylon, new enlarged fuel tanks, refuiling probe etc.... all the good stuff you can see on Spec Ops Hooks!

here we go:

New nose cone and new cockpit

new fron pylon:

modifying ramp area:

Who knows maybe Trumpeter will release MH-47 some day...but I just could not wait! I want that thing on my shelf now! To put it right next to my other Nightstalkers birds - MH-60L "Thunderstruck" and AH-6j Little Bird

Any comments and critiques welcome!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again :woo:

Andy, you ROCK!

Not really LOL :D

My Huey "Mustang 6" did nothing on CAPCON two weeks ago)))))))

So I am back at my schooldesk/workbench for more practice

It's about time you posted this project! Looks even more impressive in person than in the pics.

You mean this mediocre model........

Yeah, I guess it as was OK. The Helo category was a tough one to judge, as there were lots of great entries, one of them yours.

:D :D :D Thanks Kevin!

Damn! I should have entered it in junior category, maybe it would take at least third place after your Viper and Spitfire! :D

Great detailing of the nose, especialy the rivets, they seem very accurate.

Did you made them one by one ?

Regev

Thanks!

Rivets are...... DECALS!!!!

Yes! Water Slide Decals! From Archer Transfers. They actually are 3D shaped. And they work awesome!

I was trying to find a way to imitate raised rivets for many years now - I used all existing methods including streached sprue inserted in drilled out holes, beading tool method, foil method, CA glue dots method etc.

Archer decal method is the best of all!

Not cheap though! But worth it!

Wow, Andy this is crazy. I'm not a super builder like you but I was thinking about same thing out of my Chinnok as well. So, pen and pad ready and taking notes....... Btw, the front nose and cockpit looking awesome!!

Andy,

Holy cow! :) :) The work on the canopy framing and nose is just fan-freaking-tastic! Dude, this is going to kick some serious rear when you're done with it. Great work so far, I can't wait to see more!

Cheers,

Alby

Mission Impossible )))))

Should you choose to accept it........

Are we talking the real Steven Hill/Peter Graves Mission Impossible or "Face-boy-who-fancied-himself-a-Tomcat-pilot" era Mission Impossible?

There is a difference you know.......
