Two Mikes
Hi all I am currently working on a Trumpeter 1/72 Tu-22M2 as a long term project for not just building but also making masters for so I needed something else to occupy my time while parts dry etc. I was perusing the stash i came across one of my Trumpy Flagons and decided to give it a look. Ever forget just how much crap you buy for a model kit? I sure did in this case! I wanted to do one of these since the 2000 Dallas nats when I saw a Hit Kit 1/48 vac built up on the tables. When trumpeter offered up their new kits I bought a couple of each version and started piling in the aftermarket as it came out. Needless to say I am a bit excited to actually get working on it. The Flagon oozes Cold War to me with its boxy fuselage, massive nose and stubby wings. I find it sexy in an ugly way!! LOL Anyway here is my start. I hope you like it as I move forward. Cheers Mike Reeves Intakes already being cleaned up. I may add them to the Two Mikes line if there is any interest. The Loon Models nose adds so much to make the model look right as Trumpys nose is about 5 degrees off Check out this pitot!! Looks dangerous!! LOL Warpage anyone?? Two Mikes
Neomegas gorgeous cockpit!! hopefully it makes it to the Nats here in Phoenix this coming August!!
AnthonyWan
Good start Mike! Have you decided on a scheme yet? One question for ya...who makes that pitot tube? -Awan PS..check your facebook messages! :P
Two Mikes
Thanks Awan. I have no clue who makes the pitot. I got it from Lindenhill Imports at the 2008 nats. BTW, the cockpit is glued together as is the nose wheel well. The fit is superb!!
Unit19
Please keep the progress photos coming. I agree about this being a sexy-ugly airframe. I really wish someone would build more 1/48 Russian cold war birds.
Kasatka
Hi, Mike! It's a SUper idea to build this aircraft! If you need any help on building it please feel free to ask. I have been slowly building this model for about 3 year. You might want to have a look at my analysis of the accuracy here http://modelism.airforce.ru/workshop/su-15tm/index.htm And here is the progress of my build so far.. http://forums.airforce.ru/showthread.php?t=2841 Good luck Cheers, Sergey

mhoupt
Mike, Does this come with the decals for the KAL007 shooter? Or is that their 1/72 version? Mark
Cyrus Tan
I have no clue who makes the pitot. I got it from Lindenhill Imports at the 2008 nats. Mikey...the pitot is from a Russian company called PVD and Lindenhill is the only importer that I'm aware of in the US that carries them. Btw, an intake set would be great. My other suggestion would be to put out a nose correction like the Loon set since they seem have disappeared from the market. Oh...and check out the decal sheet from Begemot. They have a nice sheet with lots of marking options. :)

Fishwelding
Dude, if you actually finish this by Nats 2010 I will personally build an anime chick for Nats 2011... A somewhat arcane way to up the ante, but, well, there it is. I'd like to see this kit go together. It's one of the few aircraft models in Trumpeter's line that interests me, and I think it's a sharp-looking airplane for its day.
Nev
Mike, do you buy that much aftermarket for all the unbuilt kits in your stash?

Two Mikes
Mike, do you buy that much aftermarket for all the unbuilt kits in your stash? Nev Yeah I am pretty much a sick man!! I will wager that I have twice or more the value in aftermarket in my stash of kits than I do kits themselves. I am a junkie!! :P

Unit19
What a wicked piece of hardware that must have been to strap into. What are the yellow markings for on the intakes? Rather odd shapes for warning symbols.
