dnl42
This GB is prompted by the Vintage Wings great article, Skis and Floats, Anything But Wheels. While this highly recommended article focused on combat aircraft, military trainers, and transport aircraft, this GB will include any aircraft, fixed wing or rotary, any scale, that had/has floats or skis, even if just under a test program, like the F4F-3S Wildcatfish. This is a great opportunity to do something unique, like a P-38 on skis, or perhaps something as ubiquitous as a Beaver or Otter on floats. Vince14 and I will be the mods. vince14
I'm pretty sure I can get Harpia Publishing to sponsor the GB if it goes ahead. Vince
rightwinger26
I'm in, I have a JU-87, and OS2U, and a Rufe in the stash.
CorsairMan
I've got a Jake I'd love to start!
Aaronw
Is it ok if they have wheels in addition to a non wheeled landing method? I'm thinking amphibians or aircraft that have removable skis fitted over / around their wheels.
mingwin
i'm in!... but if that group build happen, i'll have to buy something... something Soviet!

phantom
Sounds good. Think I have a float Otter in the stash.
Sir Fondlebottom
I'm in either way but would a dedicated floatplane like the Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 or a Catalina be okay? Or is it only ski or float modifications?
majortomski
Some 'air'craft have skirts, no wheels and they float would they qualify, along with being full of eels?
rightwinger26
I forgot, I have a PBY in the stash that I got for Christmas, maybe make that a Midway scout plane.
dnl42
As Vince14 noted, purpose-built aircraft or bolt-ons to land-based aircraft are just fine. The F4F-3S I'm building now has (permanently mounted) floats along with beaching wheels. That would be just fine except it's well underway now. I've got an R3C-2 in the stash that I'd likely build...and endow with an actual cockpit.
dnl42
Some 'air'craft have skirts, no wheels and they float would they qualify, along with being full of eels? Are you asking about a hovercraft? I don't think that would be a good fit. But, how about an Ekranoplan? That would work for me!

dnl42
is there even a model of that? I don't think I've ever looked, but that would be awesome on the shelf. Both are available as static kits. The only hovercraft I'm aware of is the Airfix 1/144 SR.N4. As for Ekranoplans, both Revell and Zvezda offer an injection molded 1/144 A-90. I built the Revell a few years ago. The Zvezda is only a year or two old; I read that it's a new tool. Anigrand offers 1/144 resin models of the Alexeiev Lun Ekranoplan as well as the Alexeyev KM Ekranoplan. The A-90 is a large 1/144 model; the Alexeiev's are huge! Yes sir, I'm talking hovercraft. But since it technically doesn't 'fly' I can see your point. Ok back to wings+skis or floats.
ElectroSoldier
I would like this GB. I think for me there would be a couple of options. First would be the C-130 float plane seen in Resident Evil Code: Vernoica X Its basically a C-130 with some floats on the wings. I would like to do it in 72nd scale but 144 might be how it turns out as I have always wanted to build a scale model of Rock Fort anyway (Im a Res Evil fan) If not that then I would go for one of the big WWII German sea planes
vince14
I've got both the WNW Hansa kits, so I'll probably do one of those, and also the Hobby Boss Il-2 with skis. Vince
vince14
If we get the go-ahead, Harpia Publishing will sponsor us! Vince
phantom
You need another 14 yes I will build votes before you can put in your application. Seeing as 25 yes I will most definitely attend votes tend to work out to 5 completed builds.
dnl42
We just need 12 more votes! This would be a great chance to get something different on your shelf!
Neo
Ive got fw189 from gwh that kit is available on skies
Beauslx
PBY Blackcat in the stash
vince14
Let's have some more votes, people. Last time Harpia Publishing sponsored one of our GB's, they gave away 10 of their books (each worth around £30). They'll do something similar again, so it'll be worth entering. tobiK
Now we just need a Pilatus Porter with skies...or at least a AM Ski set! That would be awesome...Those planes landing and starting on glaciers, bringing first aid and transport, etc.
