Laurent
God exists ! Halleluya ! Thanks for the info, Kotey ! Hopefully the third generation versions should come after soon. Any release date ? Edited July 8, 2006 by Laurent
Mandrake
I had heard about it previously but wasn't expecting to see some sprue shots this soon. Looking forward to the PF kit also, surely that is due about now? Really hope they will do a nice MF also, as I think that is perhaps where the most demand is.

David Walker
I apologize in advance that I'm not that up on the Zvezda kits but is this 1/72 or 1/48?
kotey
This MiG-21bis in 1\72 scale. Edited July 9, 2006 by kotey
David Walker
Thanks for the follow-up on that. I was hoping 1/48 but figured it was 1/72.
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
new fishbeds!!! prayers are answered!!!!! Not just new, but decent ones!!!!! (listens for the sound of Fujimi's production lines to cut off)
Laurent
listens for the sound of Fujimi's production lines to cut off I'm afraid not. For a lot of people, a beautiful kit is an accurate one. Oh, there's a company called Hobby Master that makes a 1/72 diecast MiG-21 model. Guess what kit it's a copy of... http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/showthread.php?t=51190
Diego
It is not Condor repack, it is own Zvezda-design new model, some of sprue is old (from its MiG-21PFM model) and add three new sprue with fuselage, dorsal spine and fin, new sprue from MiG-21bis. Wow! :) Finally we get a correct MiG-21 bis 1n 1/72nd scale Thank you very much for these good news, Andrey! Hopefully Zvezda will cover the MF and the two seat U/US/UM variants in the future! Cheers Diego HDL
Laurent
There's a review on ScaleModels.ru. The wheel hubs are wrong for a bis but the new nosecone looks a lot better ! I have a hard time understanding the Babelfish translation about the accuracy. All I know is that it wasn't sold at the RIAT last weekend... Edited July 19, 2006 by Laurent

David Walker
I may have to consider picking up a 1/72 MiG-21bis after reading all this.
Raymond
you only want one? :D ill take 3-4!
Laurent
Hello. I've found the kit in Paris today in a hobbyshop I rarely go to (way too expensive) and I've bought one. I've bought Zvezda's MiG-21 PFM when it appeared and I can't say I loved it. The nosecone is horrible, the nose looked too thin to me and I wondered if their MiG-21 bis is worth buying... It is ! The nosecone is correct and the nose diameter has been increased (about a millimeter). The instrument panels are better detailed, the geomagnetic sensors on the fin have been redone. The PVD boom has the kink it should have but the vanes are missing (which isn't really a bad thing: photoetched parts would be better). Verdict: I'll check things more thoroughly but it appears that we have a winner here. I believe that we finally have a MiG-21 bis that looks like one and that is nicely detailed at the same time ! It's not perfect (landing gear leg wells too shallow and not detailed, some small parts are rough) but it's probably the best MiG-21 bis model available whatever the scale. Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
So maybe the time has come to dig all the Fujimis out of the stash and get them on eBay! Been thinking about doing that to my SMT for a while now.
Laurent
So maybe the time has come to dig all the Fujimis out of the stash and get them on eBay! Been thinking about doing that to my SMT for a while now. Please edit your post and remove the word "maybe" Oh, there may be a glitch. Windscreen and canopy seem to be kinda narrow. Laurent
Let's compare Zvezda's PFM and bis kits. The nose has been reengineered. Upper PFM, lower bis. The bis nose is wider, more cylindrical, in one word, fishbed-like Fujimi's PF nose is like a MiG-21 F-13 nose on steroĂÂŻds Edited July 30, 2006 by Laurent
madmike
Good thing is Zvezda kits are not dear here in Perth, West Australia. so I will grab one when they arrive. I like the MiG-21 series. MikeJ
Andrew D. the Jolly Rogers guy
Didn't know about the PFM issues...but it's still better than what you'll find for the most out. Wonder if I should submit an article on the KP -21 that I converted to a PFM, built a cockpit for, and put in the North Vietnamese dappled camouflage....
