  6. Ah pastels. An old school method that works! Apply to flat finish then apply a clear coat over. Just an Fyi. I would test your clear coat on a derelict model or scrap plastic card. Reason is that some pastels will disappear under the clear. Others may darken up your weathering and what looked like perfection before the clear may now look very heavy handed. Max Bryant

  8. Mario Van Peebles is dreamy!!! Oh wrong Solo. I saw it last Sunday and I really liked it! A good action movie with tie ins and nods to other SW characters. I think Ron Howard did a fine job and did anyone notice the 1 second of screen time he once again gave his Brother? The young actors portraying Solo and Lando totally nailed it as I saw glimpses of both Ford and Billy Dee in both of them. Totally stoked at the reveal at the end! Max Bryant
  9. My Gosh I am glad she came out with only minor injuries. I ride my bike everyday. I must ride 2 miles to and from the trail, and if I am not almost killed at least once a ride it is astonishing. In that 2 miles one mile is through a wooded area. it used to be one car every 15 minutes but the area has grown and now it is almost steady traffic. So many drivers just refuse to move over two feet to go around me. Others seem distracted of course and cross onto the shoulder where I am. So far I am lucky but everytime I hear a car coming up behind me I wonder if this will be the one......
  10. Oops can't remember what I read after only a few replies were read. Doesn't help that my Airfix Jav was staring back at me from the shelf as I wrote my reply. So my comment of having two 1/48 kits still applies. Just replace Javelin with Sea Vixen and a forehead slap.... Max Bryant
  11. I know this is an old post. I was lurking on the sub board and found this post. I just yesterday finished reading Silent Running by Jim Calvert. It was a good read about his serving on the Jack in WWII. Dykers was the Capt. of the Jack which he eluded to at the end of that program. Calvert was a Junior officer on the boat and ended up as the exec. Anyway he tells of that patrol where the Jack was damaged and Archer who was Chief of the boat heroically climbed into that narrow tube and fixed it. So Silent Running is mostly true events and the names used in that show where all names of guys who

  19. The Paasche AB Turbo is the High end Illustrator brush from Paasche. It really is for inks and really thin mediums of which model paints do not fall into that category. I don't think it will perform as designed with the higher hobby paint viscosities. I recently bought one for ironically 80 bucks and the seller said he tested it and it worked but I don't think it does as the needle does not move with the trigger. I have an airbrush collection and it is a good thing I basically bought it as a display piece. Also I have Googled for info on the AB and there are some you tube videos o

  23. Nice Spit, and the Jack rocks too! For old 70's kits these still are really nice kits. You can build several to use as palettes for markings and not break the bank using the latest uber kit for shelf display pieces. The fact that otaki used recessed panel lines way back in the seventies made these cutting-edge kits back in the day and as stated still good today as well, imho Max Bryant
  24. I picked one up rather cheaply during a sale from one of the online vendors, and just by looking at it in the box, for some reason jt reminded me of the Otaki kit. I have not had a chance to pull an Otaki kit from the stash and compare the two. The HB kit looks like a simple build though. As far as a accuracy??? Max Bryant
