  1. The academy kit has a similar breakdown. Upper and lower hull with that seperate front cap. Another difference is that ALL the upper hatches are molded open with seperate hatches. I have the base construction done on mine too just detailing now.
  2. Cant confirm as of yet. I havent got the trumpeter kit. Id like to find out though. When i was talking about length issues i was talking about differences in the 1/35 kits that trumpeter and AFV club make.
  3. So how is this coming along? Im working on the academy one right now. Shhould have bought a trumpeter one as well just to get the wheels. The weakest point on the academy kit is the wheel tread. Im doing mine up "vanilla" though with no armor. Just bags and packs.
  4. I have built this kit as well. Simply slicing the hatches open and replacing the molded on grab handles with wire makes it really pop.
  5. From only watching the film i thought they were all scorpions. You never hear the other name. However James Cameron made a pretty full behind the scenes world so it wouldnt surprise me.
  6. Be aware there are 2 different scorpions. The FP kit (due out in june) Only covers the double bubble one that is used as the "hero" ship. The other type is a single seat cockpit of a much different shape.
  7. Where did you get these sets. I have the academy Stryker (slightly better kit to me) Would it be compatable? I dont know if the same issue with the trumpeter 1/35 kit exists with the trumpeter 1/72 kit. Its too short in length.
  8. Seems that cream colored plastic is more of a culprit than hasegawa and their tooling. Its the same plastic used on their VF-0 battroid and it suffers from the same numerous sink marks and such. Their white plastic like the stuff used on the VF-1 and VF-0 fighter kits seems to be of a better quality and shrinks less as it cools.
  9. They may only be flying it only a few rare times a year yet all it takes is one main bearing failure on that old motor to put all their effort into the ground. Even modern well maintained F-16s have this issue. The F-4 has the benefit of 2 engines. the Thud doesnt have that luxury.
  10. Pendragon Studios version of The War of the Worlds. Sure its straight from the book...that include all the walking and walking and walking. Also the acting was ungodly awful, effects looked like they were done on an old Atari. seriously even if you get this one for free its not worth watching.
  11. Thats ammo not Weapons you should "Know" that. ;)
  12. Pardon me for being a weapons troop and not a spec or a knuckle dragger Im trying to remember something i saw while doing another job about 5 years ago that didnt deal with my primary AFSC. Be glad i was able to ID the chunk of equipment for what it was when i saw it, a heat exchanger.
  13. Love the -60 generator! They havent changed much so yours is pretty good. Raise the tow bar if you can though. They spring upward when not being towed. This activated the brakes and keeps it from rolling.
  14. Looks really really good to me. One nit to pick however, Aim 120s have no RBF tags, Aim-9s mounted on LAU-129 rails will only have one pin and tag. Its on the center body where the safe/ARM T handle is located. Your GBU 12s wont have the dome protectors on after loading so no tags there However they will have safety pins and RBF tags on one of the fins of the tail package to prevent an accidental activation while on the ground. Also on the JDAM and the TER for the GBUs there will be a pin through the MAU-12 in the pylon to safe it in case they get activated on the ground. The wing fuel tank p
  15. Easy answer for it to also go with the base. Tie DOwn Chains!. It wont look out of place and if you affix it right it could allow you to remove the model at a future time if needed.
  16. Yes F-15s do have a heat exchange unit in the ECS system for cooling. Its a unit mounted in the lower fuselage beneath the cockpit. Its accessed through the hump on the underside between the intakes. Saw a couple get swapped out in my unit before a hop to the desert. These were strike eagles mind you.
  17. If the weight balance isnt too far aft or heavy you could try flattening the wheels some if you havent already. I have found this can help alot if the COB is slightly aft of the main gear.
  18. Ill be there as well. the 08 contest was my first time going to this one. Alot of people are expecting this contest from the sound of it. Last year was very dry in this area contest wise. There will be no Shocon this year either. Pretty good show in 08. Ill be entering some Scifi stuff and some 1/72 armor. I may have a starship modeler shirt on with a big blue X for its 10th anniversary on it. If you see me say hey!
  19. Your making great progress on this. For its age the Fujimi kit is really very nice. Comes with alot of goodie options that even modern kits are lacking.
  20. While the rest of the world is waiting for this thing to come out my kit will be getting its next run on starship modeler in their store in the next month or so. Keep an eye out. If your on the preorder list they will contact you when it is in so you can pay.
  21. From what i can tell you have the tracks on wrong. They are sitting inside too far. The guide teeth should straddle the rear idler and the center sets of road wheels. It looks like you have the outer set of teeth inside the space on the idler and the same space on the inner set of road wheels.
  22. Its a toy. Its also not specifically detailed to any one of the games it is from. It shows damage from MGS 4 but is "complete" like it was in MGS 1. THe railgun is also way too skinny. Plus its a toy. WHats the fun in that. Now if Kotobukiya were to release a model of it that would be different.
  23. If you want i can get you some shots of the Skeleton at the museum where i work. Its a full size copy od "Sue" the most complete and intact T-Rex skeleton found.
  24. Thats because the VF-1 is supposed to have those markings. Its what comes in the hasegawa boxes and what is used in the 1984 film. However JR YF-19s have been done and honestly they dont look that great.
  25. the pics are working now. My photobucket bandwidth got used up.
