  1. I've also had decent luck using "Post-It" notes to make masks.
  2. CraigSargent, I was at CRM Hobbies in St Louis earlier this week and he has an entire box of old RepliScale decals. I don't remember specifically if he had any 1:48 lo-vis Hornet sheets but you might contact him. PS - all his RepliScale sheets (1:48 and 1:72) were only $2.00 a sheet!!!! (yes I bought several!)
  3. I once said that in a topless bar after having too many beers... nearly got my *ss kicked !!!

    Future

The one place you won't find it is in a hobby shop... go figure.
  5. I'd be more concerned about that bacteria that eats styrene. (only truly aging modelers will get the reference...)
  6. Surely your can of DullCote is not from before the move? I don't know the specifics but IIRC paint has a shelf life after which is should be tossed and not used.
  7. "Viper Tumors" "Lumps 'n' Bumps R Us" :o
  8. Have you read this article in the tools'n'tips section of this website?
  9. In Dallas I go to a place called House Of Color. I don't know if it is a chain though.
  10. a long quote from http://www.fensende.com/Users/swnymph/refs/glue.html :
  11. I think it is just the fumes that are potentially dangerous. Yes it is (was?) used as a surgical suture but that doesn't mean it is safe to take internally (e.g. eat or drink)
  12. paint the tiled areas of the kit black then decal over that. think of it as 'pre-shading'...

    PAINT

after you mask the stripe with tape, follw with a coat of the same (original) color, if this 'leaks' it will not ne noticable, and it will 'seal' the tape for the second coat in the new color. hope that makes sense...
  14. I used copper-clad BBs once. Once - for a reason. They corroded and ruined the paint after an undetermined period of time. I'd use them as agitators but I'd either remove them or toss the paint tin when done...
  15. don't forget to floss...
  16. I use a brass bristle brush.
  17. Looks like a countermeasures pod, with missile warning sensors and flare/chaff dispensers.
  18. They are kind of 'box' scale - I guess you could say 'egg' scale. In other words they are all 'scaled' around your standard (Mil Spec?) Grade AA egg...

    Resin Help

Are you putting in a resin cockpit because you want to? or because you think the kit you have has the wrong cockpit? I know the kit-supplied cockpit isn't perfect but the kit you have does have an "A" model cockpit.
  20. Acryl-blue by 3M - smooth and easy to sand, never had a shrinking problem.
  21. Do the -229s on F-15Es have the dark/black composite turkey feathers? or do they take them off like they do on the -220s?
  22. I thought we were talking about aftermarket decals... Kit decals get put in their own ziploc and kept with the kit in the box. I try not to get all of the air out of the ziploc, I don't want it tightly against and possibly sticking to or reacting with the decal film. I also put clear canopy trees in their own ziploc bag inside the kit box to protect them from scratches.
