  1. I'm starting to think it only has the exchange value of the rocks printed on the bill.
  2. I think this has some charm about it. Maybe it's the Iron Maiden font, maybe it's that the designers gave up on the font size before shrinking it to include all the necessary zeroes. BTW, it's worth five American dollars.
  3. Nice work. No model can escape an especially determined individual! I can't wait to see this one finished. I'm interested in seeing your method of scribing the panel lines because I think it would be dificult to do on a model that's been built up already.
  4. I friggun love air show season! My favorite of the bunch is the Alphajet sighting. When I was stationed in Yuma I think I saw one doing the circuits, but only one time. If I could buy one of those Alphajets for scooting around the continent, I would!!
  5. That may not be a testbed at all. If you looked at the standard of fmr Soviet allies' maintenance facilities, you might be surprised at what they used. I know Vietnam doesn't have Iraq's oil wealth, but the Vietnamese performed maintenance, in some depth, in open wooden structures. I'm talking jet engine maintenance level stuff.
  6. Didn't the Soviets go with the ramp because of Belenko's defection? I interpreted this fine piece of Cold War propaganda to mean that updating MiG-25Ps to PDs and PDSs came at the expense of their CV/MiG-23K program. It seems the technology is there for steam catapult systems, but maybe this is just indicative of Russia's inability to secure funding for such an expenditure. It also could mean that they aren't aiming to regain world power status in the near future. Additionally, the Su-33s have been in service in the 90s, IIRC, while the MiG-29Ks sat in storage for most of their existence. C
  7. Makes sense. I would expect a measure of secrecy, and also expect that we may not know all there is to know about this bird just quite yet. Donkey show (German for thank you, look it up ;)/> )
  8. So does that mean that F-35 is on par with the Viper and Hornet, but less so than the F-22?
  9. Nice Suicidal Tendencies reference
  10. I think some people had expectations that the F-35 would maneuver like the F-22. Why do people seem to refer to it as a dog when it comes to dogfighting?
  11. That'll teach you to tailgate. The funny part is at 1:18 when the viper is still sitting there and the bone takes off. So does that qualify as a kill claim "ground maneuver victory"
  12. I think a lot of it is cost related. Since the Cold War Russia has used propaganda to overstate the presence of cutting edge weapons, despite the cost of actually producing high numbers of them. I don't think every new MiG or Sukhoi is an He-100, but most of them seem to be marginally improved weapons produced in low numbers. This helps them gain experience with new aircraft without breaking the bank. Also, I don't think Russia finds itself in a position where it anticipates actually challenging any world power (ahem, there's only one [/highlander]), so the country is more geared to regional p
  13. Nice work. Those ZM kits seem like challenging feats, but I would definitely look for shortcuts since I looked at what's molded versus what's visible. It's a very nice looking airplane.
  14. I look forward to seeing this one through. A bit different, but an interesting path.
  15. They actually do that a lot. Another thing is they list only 2 prices now, not 3 prices, the msrp, their "normal price" and then the sale price. They are ignoring my request for correspondence about a brush I ordered 7 months ago.
  16. I saw these as late as 2001, when I was going to high school in Friendswood, TX. I was nearby Ellington Field, near LBJ Space Center, and I saw a lot of interesting 'wild life.' I saw the WB-57s fly, as well as our favorite beluga lookalike, the Guppy.
  17. My mistake, I thought they were stored on the two outboard (not wingtip) stations
  18. No doubts the Viper has fired Sparrows. This picture doesn't help determine which pylons they are coming from though.
  19. What all is wrong with the Revell/Mono Bone? That's one kit my old man built but I haven't touched one yet. If you want updates, I think we have some good options ahead of us between aftermarket manus with resin and 3d printing coming down in cost. I think we'll see big improvements in 3d printing happening in the near future now that the consumer market can fuel further development and guide requirements a little.
  20. The implication from the beginning is that the picture is actually fake ;)
  21. That's badass! Do you think you'd be open to prints? If you put together a nice collection of these, you could make a book. Forgot to mention: I like the 'fictional' part of this piece. I don't believe the F-16 has fired the Sparrow from those pylons, and I'm not sure if they have ever fired them with that weapons config. BUT I like this because it reminds me of some sort of 1980s cartoon.
