  1. A testament to the change in aircraft flight characteristics is that the T-38, once considered a newbie's best jet is now considered the most difficult jet to fly smoothly (or so I've read). It was designed to be the stepping stone to the Century series cockpits...hard to make a leopard change his spots.
  2. Those same numbers were bandied about by the author of the F-8 Crusader book I just read. That was a deadly aircraft to its pilots. Something like 38 aircraft per Mhours. Both the Hun and Crusader suffered early from a distinct lack of understanding by its designers about inertial coupling. Seems that most losses now are system failures and pilot error. Shouldn't be any other way considering how much development time is consumed before first deployment.

  4. Yup, two thumbs up for Ming.
  5. Storage tanks would require heating to keep it liquid. Rather than break it apart and recombine as chemical propellant, just use it as mass for a nuclear engine. Then, you could just use engine heat to circulate liquid water back through the tanks and eliminate the cryogenics and splitting plants.
  6. Don't fight the inevitable. Just rename them Air National Guard and let the US government do what it's supposed to do. Not even Texas gets it's own air force, why should any other state. <ducks and runs>
  7. Scale Aircraft Conversions makes a white metal set. Rather simple. Aeroclub makes a white metal set. Complete. A fellow in Nevada(? Arizona?) makes a brass set. Complete. Seach this board to get his name. It was mentioned within the past two weeks.
  8. Shirley, you jest! That kit was the bomb...at least to this thirteen year old...some thirty-five years ago...
  9. It was thirty years ago in my teens that I built the C-141. I could very well be wrong as to scale.
  10. Nothing larger? If we can have 1:48 BOnes and 1:72 BUFFs and Starlifters, why not a 1:72 Galaxy?
  11. I'd say it was sinking. The first shot shows that it's definitely a bent bird.
  12. -4 had the rocket stubs from the factory.
  13. I want to say yes. Better to ask over at Starship modeler or CultTVMan.
  14. Springs and sway bars from a 1989 Acura Legend Coupe. Gonna put them on my 1990 sedan. No model stuff...
  15. It's been discussed here. May have been in the prehistoric days before vBulletin, though.

  17. Hell yeah! Need the seminal vessel to go with the NX-01 and Refit in the closet. I'd dump those two in a heart beat if that were the only way to get the original Constitution class ship in 1:350.
  18. Verlinden Lock-on F-16 also has some nice photos of the Viper "dish".
  19. If you copy the URL of each photo into a separate browser, you can see the photo and it'll be cached for you next visit to this thread. BIG pics, by the way.
  20. F4U Corsair dvd by Red Pepper has film of Corsairs operating off Bunker Hill. Overall GSB. You can see Avengers on the fantail getting ready to launch but no good shots for determining camo. Worth the money just for the Vought proganda film which has a lot of footage of assembly lines. [edit] Watched the second of the three disc set and there were tri-color Corsairs from Bunker Hill sometime in 1943. Again, couldn't see the Avengers to note what camo they carried. I will have to copy your aircraft list to see if the appear in the films.
  21. How does a Tornado compare to a Viper in radius? There's a photo showing a Viper having done a 360° in the time it a Rhino to cut 180°. Does the Tornado turn like a Fifties jet or a Seventies jet?
