Here's my nearly completed Harrier (1/48). Hasegawa kit, TwoBobs decals. Still need to touch up odds and ends and hang things to go Boom. Thinking about an LGB for sure, maybe a snakeye.

When the A-10's were in the Lizard scheme, were the pylons painted to match the camo pattern, or were they all one color?

I usually dunk the nose in Mr. Surfacer 500 once or twice, let it harden and sand to shape. It's really very little work, and it looks fantastic.

Calling anyone who's built the 1/48 Academy F-15C/D
kozlok replied to strikeeagle801's topic in Jet Modeling
When I have this problem (more often than I should), I just drill a hole in the top of the nose, somewhere well away from any panel lines, and dump the fishing weights in. I dip them in super glue beforehand, and tip the jet nose-down as I insert them. They find the pointy end, and the superglue holds them still. It's easy to know when to stop, just check every few pieces to see when it balances. Then fill the hole with a piece of sprue and tenax, a little putty, and then you'll never know. -
OK, here are un-puttied pics of the wing to fuselage seam. I have heard of many people having problems with this area. All I did was test fit, and file. Then used Tenax and a little push. No need for putty at all. Still some shiny spots from the Tenax that need a bit of sanding, but I wanted you guys to see it in its unadulterated state. I've used the same process throughout, and the fit really isn't all that bad for the most part. Top: Bottom: Other wing fits just as well, but I wanted the first one to set up well before pushing the second one on. I'm not sure if there is

Here's major assembly completed. Started to fix the seams. From all I've heard and seen, I expected the fit to be worse than it was. Careful fitting and filing, and some extra Tenax seems to have gone a long way to minimizing seam work. Can't decide on a scheme. I think I'm going Charcoal Lizard so I don't have to rescribe. In the Lizard pic's I've seen, the panel lines just seem much less pronounced, so the rescribed lines/wash won't be missed.

I have seen at least 3 different schemes: One was with relatively small blue flames. One has very long red and white flames (with a blue field up front), and one has shorter red and white flames, and the stripes are mismatched at the nose. Here's a pic of the third one. I think the second one is what you have decals for. (It's also on the box cover for the 1/48 Hasegawa "Stars and Stripes" boxing of the F-18 C. I couldn't find a pic online of the second one, but it's on my Hasegawa box plain as day. By the way, I did the one in the picture in 1/48, and with twobobs decals and plenty

The 57th FIS F-102 was done with the superscale sheet. The markings are from the William Tell competition in '72 (I think), so it looks like the Orange over ADC grey was in fact correct. I'd be interested in seeing your photos, though (what year were they taken?) I'm going with Insignia Red for the F-89 because it's pre-'57.
-
Insignia red is what I've seen people write down, but why doesn't it ever match the stripe in the stars and bars (the photo I posted is just an example, the F-102's look the same).

I'm trying to figure out what color "arctic red" really is. Somewhere along the line, I decided to paint my F-102 (57th FIS, Keflavik) wing tips in Testor's "international orange" (FS12197) , but as time has gone on, I'm less convinced that was correct, and I'm thinking of going with insignia red for my in-progress F-89 (66th FIS). Anyone know for sure? One thing I found is this photo of an F-89 from Keflavic, and the red stripe in the Stars and Bars is definately not the same as the wing tips. Also, if anyone has a pic of an F-89 from the 66th FIS, I'd appreciate you sending me a co

I sent you an e-mail through the ARC "send e-mail" feature, but no response from you, so I had assumed you'd been taken care of. I have several sets. Shoot me an e-mail or PM with your address and I'll get a set off to you. Kozlok

AMTech were going to do an all-new super nice P-61. Since they are no-more, I don't know if anyone inherited their drawings or tooling. I gather they were pretty far along.

A flawless trade across the pond with Pat. He was more than generous with his end of the trade. I hope he is as happy as I am.

On that subject, what happened to AMTech? I know one of the founders was ill or something...Are they gone forever?

In process pics of my VFA-103 Super Hornet I used the HobbyDecal dry transfers for most of it. They look great, but not as easy as water slide, that's for sure. Just need to add the last bits and pieces and put it with the Tomcats. I've never really done a panel line wash, but I've been wanting to try it. I really like the way it turned out. In person, it's more apparent than in the pic. My pics are big, so I linked to them. Pic 1 Pic 2

I know it's not an airplane, but I built it anyway, and I ruined one of the big gray number decals for #411 (the same as the one on the front of the box). The kit number is 6264, and it's the recent Dragon Panzer IV E (the DAK version). If anyone has the kit and is building different markings, I'd appreciate selling/trading this decal to me. Thanks!

There are only two good fixes. One is to close your eyes, spin around three times, and say "good enough for me". This is my preferred fix. Second is to dump it in the trash and build a Revell and/or Hasegawa. It seems to me that the market is ripe for a GOOD F-14 kit.

Scooter Man (Tim Lingle) kept up his end of our trade. Sent the decals very quickly. Trade with confidence.

Hard to do better than trading with doctorpepper. He helped me out with decals that I needed. Hard to call it a "trade" though, as he sent me decals, and didn't want anything in return. Many thanks!

Brian is a gentleman and an excellent trader. He always trys hard to do everything he can to deal honestly and fairly with everyone. Not a bad trader in my book.

I understand your problem, Brian. Don't let them get you down. Make sure you just keep getting those references to Bob! Good luck to you.

Jim is always giving a helping hand. Highly appreciated!

Just try to punch him in the friggin head. If he's a real Seal, you will most probably miss. If he's not, you will punish him for his lies. Meathook to the head!

Too late for that, it's practically done. Decals are on and everything. I really should think of these things before hand.
