  1. Thanks, Andre. I do have a Hase Phantom kit....in 1/48 scale. In 1/72nd scale I have several Revell and Monogram kits plus the ESCI kit. Of course this IS an excuse to go to the hobby shop.....lol. If those kits I do have don't have the dispenser I'll either scratchbuild mine or put in a parts request somewhere. Justin
  2. Thanks, both of you. I've decided to build it as it appears recently. Sometime in the future I'll build one as it was on the night of Osirak, maybe in 1/48th scale as I am slowly transitioning to that. And if anyone has reference material on that, it would be appreciated. ;) I know I'll need chaff dispensers for the tail but I've decided to leave them off until I get past the decaling part. And I don't know where I get them, I'll double check my Hase kits but I don't think they have them. Neither do my Revell kits. Justin
  3. Well, everyone, after a long break I finally got back to the bird. It's now got its camo scheme on, and it went a lot better than my Ra'am build (which is now on an extended break. Too many problems with the tails, I thought I'd saved the build but now I'm considering stripping the paint job). Anyway, the next step with the Netz is to Future it and get the decals on, after touching up some areas on the underside with light ghost gray. MM Enamels were used: Light Ghost Gray, Dark Gull Gray, Sand, Dark Tan, Sky Type S.
  4. Whoo....after a bunch of difficult work and angst, and a couple of setbacks, I finally finished the paint job. It's not perfect but it looks way better than it did after the initial disaster (covered in the general forum). Any suggestions/comments are welcome.
  5. Sweet looking Airwolf! Like the overall finish, looks very nice and clean. And the guns "out" is a nice touch. Justin
  6. Thanks Martin....I'm getting the bird masked up and will spray on the Sky first. That is, if I have it in my paint collection, I'll need to check. Justin
  7. Thanks both of you. I don't think it will be finished in time for the mini contest though, this will be a long and slow build because I'm going to do things like detail the gear wells, that's the next step. As far as the Meteor decals I will use them, but I'll spray on a very light coating of black to darken them up after I apply them. They are a little light to my eyes. Justin
  8. Well, I've restarted work on the shuttle after a little break. I've gotten done with the cockpit....I glued on sheet styrene squares on the instrument panel, then glued clear blue plastic over those squares, and glued strips of styrene to separate the multifunction displays.
  9. Well everyone....weather did NOT permit me to spray on the camo until these last couple of weeks. I've been studying for my CCNA test (I didn't pass yesterday, will retake Mar 23) but I found time to finish my 727, work on my shuttle and Ra'am in between intensive study periods. So here's the Ra'am as it is right now, in Humbrol 121 - the Dark Earth and Sky will be applied this week.
  10. Wow. OUTSTANDING scratchbuilding work so far. My grandpa flew B-47's in the fifties so I'm watching this build...I look forward to the finished product. Justin
  11. Good work on that bird. I have that same decal set....I wouldn't have put that exhaust stain over the lady's hairdo, but that's just me. Justin
  12. Speaking of next time....I have decided there WILL be another airliner build in the near future. And I think I've got the subject too, it's an Airfix kit in my stash.....the British Airways Trident. Look for it next to the 727 in the next few months. And look for a Southwest 737-700 too sometime.... Justin
  13. Thanks again everyone....here are some more pictures. The next time I build an airliner I might cut the stripe into segments before applying, the stripes were very hard to manage on this bird.
  14. Ah yes, the Mini Contest....I'll bring a few kits there, including the Mig and the 727. I'll check out the gallery also. Justin
  15. Looks very nice, nice work on those stairs. I don't know if I could work with PE like that yet. And I agree with Jay on the Minicraft kit. Justin
  16. Thanks David. I just might do another airliner this year, we'll see. Oh, and Ralph, that satellite behind my 727 is a paper kit of the Mars Global Surveyor from SCIKITS that I finished in December. Justin
  17. Great looking Tempest. Very nice camo finish. By the way, where did you get those black gripper thingies to keep the seams closed? I need to get myself some. Justin
  18. Sweet bare metal finishes! How well did the Alclad gray primer go on? I've heard bad things about its black primer. Justin
  19. Thanks everyone Now I'll be putting away my modeling stuff for the next week while I finish studying for my CCNA test (I'm pretty much there with understanding the material)...once I finish and pass the test on March 6th, I'll work on my existing projects and maybe start one more. As for the difficulties I experienced....I had to use some putty but it wasn't too bad...then bad weather hit and I had to stop work for a while. Then I had problems with the airbrush...then the BMF and gloss white, mostly the gloss white...then the engine nacelles were a disaster. One of them fell apart on me a
  20. Thanks Tim and everyone else....by the way, nice Concorde. Wonder if Halfords is available in the U.S., or if it isn't what is the equivalent? Justin
  21. Looking good Nenad, keep on going! Justin - just finished HIS first airliner kit in a while. It's in the critique corner.
  22. Looks great....welcome to ARC! Nice work on the cockpit and overall finish. Justin
  23. Well, everyone, here's my second finished kit of 2007. Just in time for the end of the Airfix GB. And it's the first airliner kit I've built in quite a while. I am now wanting to build more, despite the frustrations and difficulties I experienced with this one, it was a battle till the very end. But it gave me good practice on BMF and gloss white, and the two together look amazing when properly done.
  24. Just in under the deadline....the TWA 727-200!
