  1. Hi Doug, While not the CE intakes for 1/48th scale, I had a similar problem (as did others) with the Seamless Suckers for Tamiya’s 1/32 F-4J when I tried to use them on my build. If you look at the picture below (provided by Ben Brown) you’ll see that they are very similar to the CE ones you have. Due to the process used to make resin items they can and do vary in size from set to set. You can either do like Ben did and shim the back of the intake or contact Meteor Productions, explain the issue and get a new set.
  2. Hey how much did you have to sand off the struts? I have the Echo version of the kit and I guess I will have to shorten those strugs too. TIA and hi there i added a picture of the strut OOB and added a line to where you need to sand that and a bit off th tire ought to do the trick. HTH greetz STB frederick jacobs Hi Frederick, Thanx! ;) I will keep this in mind when I build the F-4E and RF-4C.
  3. Great work so far. The way you did the seats was pretty neat! Hey how much did you have to sand off the struts? I have the Echo version of the kit and I guess I will have to shorten those strugs too. TIA and :D
  4. Man that's a great build, especially with all that resin. In my next project I will be using just a resin cockpit and I'm a little intimidated with that. Wow! You did a terrific job building all that media into on good looking F-4J! Yeah I was wondering about that for mine too. Then I realized that the bird I was building was on a carrier and it seemed to me that they most likely wouldn't use separate boarding ladders to cut down on the unnecessary clutter and or loose objects on the flight deck so I went with it. Any way that's a great looking F-4J.
  5. Hi GAZ That is a great looking bird you've done there. Good job! As for the tank issue, it depends. The USN usually used only the CL tank on the carriers to make moving and parking F-4s easier on the decks and hangers. On the other hand there are lots of pictures of USN F-4Js with the wing tanks too so go with what you like. Either way with the job you've done it will be a winner! :D
  6. Almost done. This is yet another VMFA-333 bird, but it’s Major Lee "Bear" Lasseter’s and Captain "Li'l John" Cummings’ personal bird, AJ-202 BuAir No. 155516 the Phantom that actually carried the kill markings from the 10 Sept. 1972 mission. I have to add some more PE to the canopies so I can pose them open and finish her load out of AIM-9s and Mk-82s. I am trying to rework the kits AIM-9s into closer facsimiles of AIM-9Gs like this one: One down 3 to go. Here is the bird
  7. All I want for Christmass is an F-4B/N and an F-4K/M. Things that would also make me part with $$$ are: F-106 F-102 Mirage 2000 MiG-23/27 Su-15 MiG 25 Form WW II A-36 P-51A Do-335 Ki-44 Ki-45 Ki-61 Ki-100 J2M-3. And of course we need some serious thought given to the only Air Arm from WW II that has never been even partially represented in mainstream 1/32 injected media: Anything ITALIAN!
  8. Hi Blackhawk, Check out > this link < About half way down the page you will see all 3 box tops of Revell's later tooling Tornado. The old tool kits come in the older rectangular box style with a photo of an actual aircraft on the box. Hope this helps.
  9. A set of free jet instrument decals from Mike Grant Decals! And I might add that they are very well done! And a bill from my dentist.
  10. Oustanding job Woodman. Great work with the Alclad, and super job on the seats! Very real looking! BTW how did you do the "caulking on the wind screen"? :P
  11. OOOH! OOOH! OOOH! Mr. Grant! Mr. Grant! I'll take a 1/32 scale sheet. PM inbound.
  12. Hey guys, Progress is progress, even though it has been glacial I guess. I was hopping to have this done last June, and well here it is September and it’s still a long way from done. Due to limited space, and time, I can’t do more than one model at a time. Here’s a couple of links to show the progress that was made before Litte more progress on Tamiya F-4J, from July 26 and Tamiya F-4J, Progress Continues, from June 6 and these photos show what’s been done since June. She stands alone at last! and And a couple of pictures of the Office space. The cockpits had been m
  13. As Dave says the Hasegawa kits would probably be the best. But one other thing to be aware of is the horizontal stabilizers. F-16A Block 15 were the first F-16s with the enlarged horizontal stabilizers. These only come in the F-16A Plus/C kit. Hasegawa's early F-16A is just a rebox of their F-16 FSD kit (the one with the picture of the model completed in GD's red, white, and blue demo scheme on the box) and they all come with the early small horizontal stabilizers. Ask me how I know. HTH &
  14. Looks great! How do you guys do that in the small scale without going blind?
  15. Way to go Smithery. Absolutely great build.... First Class all the way!! Your weathering on the bird is very true to form and life like!! :)
  16. Ok I'll keep 'em crossed, but somehow I don't think it will be necessary. Great work on the crew! ;) Wow. Your work is truly awesome! Wow.
  17. No no. ;) I didn't mean that the placards weren't there, just not used. I think there was some sort of NAVAIR requirement for the placrds to be on the AC but that when the units were shore based the ground crews negelected to write the weights on them. Sorry for the confusion, BTW what colour/paint did you use on the insides of your burner cans?
  18. Hi Smithery, GREAT BUILD!! Looking very much like an F-4J now! Keep up the good work. I used this set for my bird too. It seemed like it took me forever to get all those little dos and don'ts on there. One other thing, did it seem that some of the markings were oversized? It seemed to me that some of the labels were hard to line up in the panels according to the instructions. In a couple of cases I had to use "poetic license". Looks absolutely great! Do/Did they use that weight placard at shore stations? I was under the impression that those weights were only
  19. Well it looks like it's coming along nicely! Looks great!
  20. Wow. Your cockpit looks spot on! Great job. Yeah thos intakes are wonderful aren't they. Your solution sounds a bit easier than mine. I'll have to keep it in mind. Mark B.
  21. Great Job Smithery  Great job on the stores. Are those stencils on the inboard pylon from the kit's decals? The more I see your build the more I realize I should've gone with the USMC kit instead of the Navy one.
  22. Finished the decals and got the nose on. Now I have to gloss coat and wash, then flat coat the top. Started work on the load out. Here’s the CL Gasbag and the First AIM-7E2 Here’s one showing what a difference a little Two Bobs can make! Thanx Two Bobs! ;) \ Here’s a link to the thread showing previous progress. Previous Thread for now Mark B.
  23. I know I’m supposed to be working on this for the group build, but until I get this one done, I can’t start working on the F-4E. I have gotten to the point of decaling the beast with all those little maintenance warnings and "no no" stencils and I have a question concerning them and the larger national insignia, branch of service and squadron markings. Which is on top? Do the stencils get applied over the national insignia/squadron markings or are the national insignia/squadron markings applied over the stencils? TIA Mark B.
  24. Great Job Andy. How did you do the instrument panels? I usually have to use PE and acetate to get that kind of effect. Way to go. Mark B.
