well i wanted the academy kit, but i opted for the cheaper monogram instead. is the monogram worth anything or anything to make it better? or should i just get the academy mig?

Hey, I used the missles from the kit. It is an older Has kit of the F-16A and the missles where supposed to be switched, the sidewinders on the wingtips, and the others on the wing. They had correct wing mounts, but I was trying to go for a more modern look. It didn't come with an option to switch wing tip mounts. I fixed my clear coat issue, so i'm gonna move the missles back some, and call her done! There are other issues I came across that I will know for the next build. I will pick up an F-16CJ kit and do it right for next time. I'm a Revellogram guy, and the Hasegawas are a bit intimidat

Ah gotcha... I just glued them where the notch on the rail and missle met. Now I see why the rails are specific as this was an A kit. They both came off due to clumsy hands, and I superglued them on. If i can get them off w/o any damage I can move them back. As for your pic, I can add the yellow and brown stripes too. I will try to put some gloss on, then a lighter coat of dull. I'll do this first, so if it doesn't look any better i may not worry with correcting the missles. I will know for next time. Thanks

So I started this kit over a year ago, and now that i'm back to building, i figure it would be a good way to ease into the hobby again. The kit has a BB cockpit tub, but has a True Details seat, and 2bobs Hills Viper decals. I'm almost done, I have to add the landing lights and formation lights. Its half brush painted and half spray can. Please feel free for comments and suggestions. I had fun building it, and it seems to become more real when you give it a personality by adding decals. I thought they looked just like the Revells. I looked at the 2 side by side and I didn't see the point of using the Aries when the kits parts looked that good. Shrug...

I'm a brush painter. I use kit decals unless there's a specific thing I wanna do like a jolly rogers tomcat or something. I'm totally in love with Revells and Monograms. I have 2 1/48 Hasegawa Tomcats I'm scared to death to open the bags, much less start them. Hey everyone, after a break from alot of things, I'm back to buillding and it feels great. Many of you don't know me, but some do. Only Tomcat I've ever seen in real life is down on the USS Yorktown in Charleston SC. I was impressed, but at the time she wasn't being cared for at all. It was more like seeing a lifeless shell of what used to be. I hope they restore her. As I remember, she was split, a squadron on one side, a different on the other. I have never heard her engines or seen her fly. Wish I could, as the rest of us, the Tomcat is my favorite.

no matter what revell does with it, i will buy a couple. i've got 2 hasegawa B's sittin in the stash that i'm not jumping up and down to build. when it does come out, i'll most likely sell the has kits, take that money and buy 2 rev kits, order a pizza, get a bottle of shine, and have a slice-o-joy with pepperoni!! (just tryin to lighten this thread up guys!)
