  1. I think you can go ahead and finish your paint job. When I use XF1 flat black (the same bottle I have over thinned), I just shoot a coat of Future over it and the problem is solved. In your case, as you use the XF1 for pre-shading, I think the next coat of paint you will shoot will act as the Future in my case.
  2. May the problem is related to the XF1 flat black paint. I've noticed the same phenomenon with a too thinned XF1 paint. You could try to shoot another color on the primer (on a small area) to check if the problem comes from the primer or from the paint.
  3. As far as I am concerned, I'm going to build the old hasegawa. I guess it's gonna take months too...
  4. Well, it's a movie... At least, russian aircrafts are played by real real russian aircrafts (no Mig 28...) After all, how many of us got interested, I mean seriously, in aviation after Top Gun... Come on, don't be shy, put your name on the list below.
  5. YES!!! It's the site I was refering to in my post. Thanks a lot The goodsgt Special Hapy New Year to you
  6. Hi all and happy new year, I'm looking for a detailled 3 views of the RA-5C Vigilante. I use to check a russian site but, unfortunately, I've lost the link. So, please, HELP ME!!! Cheers
  7. The insignia on the box art is the one of the "Provence" 01.007 fighter squadron (escadron de chasse in french), from Saint Dizier air base (n°113 air force base). The insignia of the photo shows the insignia of the Spa 77 flight, "Jerusalem's cross",(escadrille), one of the three flights of the Provence. The others are the Spa 15, "Bayard knight helmet" and the Spa 91, "Eagle and skull" (my former flight in the good ole Jaguars days...). It seems that the 7-HH of the pictures wears the flight insigna on the left side and the squadron insigna on the other side. To built a totally accurate
  8. Seems to be a nice kit. And it provides 2 MAGIC II missiles for the spare box because the Armee de l'air don't use them on the Rafale (only the french navy used them on the first Rafale batches)
  9. 1/72 Revell, very nice, easy to build and self-sufficient! (and also less common than US F-something...)
  10. The rear canopy of the two seater seems to have the right circular shape the canopy of the single seater should have. As on the real aircraft, the rear canopy of the two seater was the same part as the single seater canopy, it's not a long way to go to have the right single seater canopy. Come on Trumpy, just a little effort...
  11. Indeed, I am!!!! :P ;) I worked for 7 years on A & E Jags with the french air force, this aircraft and my team are always in my thoughts The fin of the under wing tank seems a bit off to me, the span is too long and the underbelly tank is a british one. The bang seat seems to be a Mk9 instead of a Mk 4 and the details of the glare shield are incorrect for a A. The gun muzzles are british looking too, but it's not so difficult to correct. It is a VERY good new!!! The biggest issue is the canopy frame which must be allmost a perfect circle instead of rounded corner square as it seems to
  12. The twisted wires technique works fine to me (I built mainly 1/72 jets). Just a little trip more: when the wires' paint is fully cured (I use enamels for this job), I deep them in Future. It helps to avoid the cracking of the paint when you twist the wires. When they look OK, I deep the twisted wires in the Future again. It avoid the wires to untwist when you cut them to the lenght you need.
  13. Definitely the legendary Jaguar, Hasegawa 1/72 (thus a new tooled would be appreciate)
  14. I don't know for you, but to me, only the Tamiya white primer gives a nice smooth finish. The flat white seems always like if there was dust in the paint.
  15. The 1/72 Hunters are really very nice. The canberra in 1/48 also
  16. Which scheme you are talking about? The three-toned or the whole grey scheme For the whole grey, some people use gunship light grey FS 36118 (Humbrol 125 according to the IPMS stockholm color chart) For the 3-toned scheme, you can use dark gray/dark green an aluminium shades used on the other french tactical aircraft (Jaguar, Mirage...)
  17. Definitely NOT an F-14, it as a centerline tank. It maybe a Mirage F1 but I'm not sure
  18. So, to clarify what I think: To me, the device on the wing is used to prevent the aileron moving in the wind when the aircraft is on the apron. The device on the horizontal stab is a stand.
  19. Have a look to this site: lucky models At the end of the page #5 there is a Tamiya A10 for less than 11 bucks. I'm almost sure it's an Italeri rebox.
  20. You are right, it's written on the side of the box, two kits inside!
  21. I vote for a stand. It could have been a calibration jig, but usually, this kind of tool requires the aircraft is in a maintenance hangar, often on jacks and so on. I'm not an F4 maintenance crew though...but got some expérience in military jets maintenance
  22. Hasegawa, 1/72 THE LINK!! OOHH YEAHHHH!!!!
  23. I m not a F4 specialist but I m an aircraft engineer and I assume the device on the picture is something used to prevent the control surfaces to move in the wind when the aircraft is on the apron. The generic name in french is "eclisse". Using Google traduction, I found "splint" (used in medecine, I don't know if it is correct here)
  24. The Mirage F1 is ATAR 9K50 powered. The Mirage IV is ATAR 9K14. The engines are almost identical externally so any Mirage F1 exhaust picture will match (maybe easier to find) Mirage IV walkaround Mirage F1B walkaround
