Wing can be down when it is parked. When the wing goes up the leading and trailing flaps go down even if the wings are folded. There is a good reference in this forum here. Geoff M

Time to catch up. Thanks for following along with this and I hope you don't mind my comparison of the 2 kits. This one is taking longer than the Tamiya F-14. If Tamiya hadn't come out with there kit, I would say this is the best F-14 in 1/48th because of the detail they put into it (whether or not you think the detail is correct is up to you). That being said it is harder to work on. First off, there is a ton of parts spread out among 10 or so sprues, not including all the weapons they include. I am now into Tomcats and thanks to Eracubsfan for starting this group build. It gives me a reason to build some of these kits. As it says in the title I am going to change AMK D into a B with the help of Steel Beach parts and Furball decals. Here is the run down. S Some of the smaller bits. So now that the juices are flowing and I am into Tomcats for the moment, I am going to do another one. I have the AMK D model that I am going to convert to a B model. I have the Steel Beach set to make up for the missing parts and Furball decals for the markings. I have another of the Tamiya D models but I thought I would do a kinda comparison of the 2 in the build.

Quick question for a Tomcat project. Working on a AMK Tomcat turning it into a B. It has the GPS bump on the spine. The plane I am modelling is VF-211 from the Desert Shield/Storm time frame. Would it have a GPS at that time? Thanks for any information. Geoff M

Thanks for the compliments. I spent about 15 days and probably averaged 3-4 hours/day. Mostly late at night when my wife would go to bed. The Tamiya is almost a snap together. Geoff M
