Jeff
Hi all, I just found Academy has release the 1:48 Su-30M2 "Russian Air Force": http://www.academy.co.kr/6q/board_news_main.asp?pMenuId=BOARD00012&pCode=6690 Pre-order is available in hobbyeasy. May I know if the Su-30M2 externally is the same as the Su-30MKK? Jeffrey
fulcrum1
I like those limited Academy kits. The Flanker nerds won't care, but I think they're fun to build and looks nice when they're done.
Flankerman
May I know if the Su-30M2 externally is the same as the Su-30MKK? Jeffrey Visually, yes...... Note that Academy have got the fins wrong - the rudder should extend all the way down to the base. The Academy fin is like a Su-27UB with a squared-off top - not correct. Su-27UB.... Su-30MKK/M2.... pookie
They fixed the top of the fin, it's now square like the drawing. The bottom of the rudder is still Su-27.
Berkut
No, they didn't fix anything. Fin was square in the Su-30MKK boxing too, trouble is that it is wrong shapewise. Looks exactly the same in the Su-30M2 kit. Also, why are they hell-bent on writing "S-30M2"?
Jeff
Does the Academy 1:48 Su-27UB suffer the same problem as the su-27 as being a bit short (1:50 scale)?
Berkut
Does the Academy 1:48 Su-27UB suffer the same problem as the su-27 as being a bit short (1:50 scale)? Yes. Mistakes are carried over.
jenshb
Is it short in one or two places, or proportionally short all over (like the Italeri B-58)? Jens
Berkut
Proportionally short all over. I have seen builds with 30+ cuts and addition of plastic of few mm's in between. There is also a build that had only three cuts and that looked by far simpler and just as effective.
Just4kiks
legit, man, this is really the flanker age this year
Flankerman
AFAIK, the Academy Su-27/30 is currently the only tandem two-seat Flanker on the market - 30+ years after its first flight I don't think anyone else does one in 1/48???? Please say I'm wrong ??? (Zhengdefu copies don't count). Ken

I know is designed for the Su-30MK, but I don't know if it applies to the this new Su-30M2 from Academy. Thanks in advance. The MKK/MK2/M2 are, essentially, all the same visually. Ken

Crazy Snap Captain
Can't tell for sure, but it looks like they got the insignias wrong. The red stars should have a thin blue outline. In the pics they look to be the old style ones?
