Aigore
Sunday updatey timey! Decals?! Who'd have thought? How incredible it yet seems it is time to start on the decals! It's been a long road to here but now it´s time. First off I had a look at the roundels....I thought they looked a wee bit to bright. So I scrounged up a sheet with Swedish roundels in different scales. Then I compared...hmmmmm Edited January 30, 2022 by Aigore
Aigore
Then I compared with another set too......hmmmmm I decided to try on a darker blue roundel to see how it looked....and well It looks good. Unfortunately I noticed that the roundels for the flanks weren't centered
Aigore
So off with the darker blue and on with the Jetmads, really thin and nice decals btw. And the roundels look alright.
Aigore
Next I ruined a decal.....demn Well off with it, I'll have t paint it no biggie, it´s just a black square. It's identity is soon revealed. And there I'll take a break for today and let the decal fluids work their magic. The F4 wing shield looks awesome....a really fragile decal but I´ll seal all my decals before I start weathering. Cheers!
Aigore
Sorry for the break up of the post but I somehow offended ARC with my posts so I had todo it this way

Aigore
And it´s Friday again so here ya go! Decals are on! Yep, I broke off the forwards radar sensors........ The last of the decals are on.... End of part
Aigore
Part 2 I was surprised that Jetmads skipped loads of stencils in this scale...I hate putting on decals but I want it to be right too. Another thing was decals without a plce to put them according to the instructions like the little yellow circle at the top of the fin. with the decals done I started project "Make The Friggin Radar Sensors Stay In Place" First a drill... https://hosting.photobucket.com/images/cc63/Aigore/IMG_5878.JPG Then holes! And in the holes I glued pianowire. Made corresponding holes in the wing... And glued the maternal intercoursing male brood of female dogs in place! I ended todays session with fixing that ruined square decal on top. Masked, painted and unmasked 😄 Cheers!

AV O
Very good job on this big model. However, some details show up like these file scars at the edge on the rudder. One detail that you might give us a clue about : I noticed on your other 1/48 Viggen models, a slot at the bottom of the air intakes. Did you have to carve them on this one as they seem small compare to the other ones ? Edited February 6, 2022 by AV O

Did you have to carve them on this one as they seem small compare to the other ones ? Thanks AV O 😄 there are lots of marks in the resin from the printing of the "plug" they made the cast off. I didn´t bother with all marks only the worst as you really have to look close to see them. The slot in the intake was there from the beginning and is more to scale than the slots in the 1/48th scale Tarangus/Special Hobby kits. While the Tarangus/Special Hobby rendition of the Viggen is far better than the ESCI they really do have issues still even if they added a correction sprue in the later editions. This is unfortunate. Aigore
Ah, it´s Sunday and you know what that means, updateytime! Always bring the weather with you... Yes, time to weather the beast! Started with a wash in the wheel bays....I didn´t want to over do it....too much. I'll leave it as this until I have another look at it in a different light but I doubt I need to add more, maybe remove. Then I sloshed a wash on a wing, the fact is that the model is so big and unwieldy that I have to weather in increments. It doesn´t do wonders for my inpingement in my shoulder. Wiped it off....doesn´t look half bad really Both wings done... And the forward section.... And this is the result after the wash looks good at a distance but I might return to clean up areas...or add. it´s not done until the flat coat is down. Next for some streaking, leaks and dirt with pigments.....I love pigments! You can weather so fast with pigments instead of laying down a gazillion different washes. And the belly is done....well like I said I will have a second look to see if it holds water. Starting to come alive don´t you think? Cheers!
AV O
Thank you very much for your answer. Indeed, I've just found a good picture of the air intake area : (See Fuselage Details - 2nd down) https://www.ipmsstockholm.se/home/saab-37-viggen-in-detail/
