MattCar
Thats a beautiful colour scheme on the Flanker. I wonder if they come up with these camouflages for the benefit of us aviation enthusiasts, or just come up with what they think looks cool Either way, it looks superb, thanks for posting those Cheers Matt

Indonesian Su-27's... The Su-30KI - which WAS going to be sold to Indonesia a few years back - until the deal fell through - had the same camo as the Le Bourget demonstrator - Su-27SKM Bort 305. Su-30KI:- Su-27SKM :- Ken
Mandrake
Just abit of interesting trivia from another forum........... This aircraft "305" sufferred a radio malfunction on its way to Le bourget and as it was not responding to French Air Traffic Control, Mirages were scrambled to assist and it was escorted to Criel were pressumably the problem was fixed before it continued onto Le Bourget. http://kovy.free.fr/temp/su-27-bourget.jpg http://kovy.free.fr/temp/su-27-bourget2.jpg

Quite funny how english people tend to mess up the names of continental European places, or sometimes even their own. (Coningsby :) )

Jim Barr
Thats a beautiful colour scheme on the Flanker. I wonder if they come up with these camouflages for the benefit of us aviation enthusiasts, or just come up with what they think looks cool At the LAAD 2005 show recently I was doing a little trading amongst the other exhibitors and worked a trade with one of the Sukhoi guys, I was complimenting him on this same camo scheme that was on a large model in their exhibit (through an interpreter), turns out he is the one that comes up with a lot of their camo schemes and he is a MODELER Regards Jim Barr
faassen
Is Flanker 305 not exactly the same aircraft as the Su-27KI intended for Indonesia and not delivered and which was seen on a few airshow is Malaya etc.?? When you compare the camo scheme its axactly the same!! Dick

Flankerman
Let's hope the Russians improve their safety record at the Paris Air Show this year..... Perhaps they could get some advice from the US ?? F-117A.... Stealth fighter crashes at airshow - ON SEPTEMBER 14, USAF/49th FW/7th FS F-117A 8110793PHO' was making its third and final fly-past at the Chesapeake Air Show at Glenn L Martin State Airport, Maryland, and had begun a climbing turn when the port outboard elevon began to oscillate rapidly, causing the outer wing to fall off. QF-4...... VENTURA, Calif. (AP) — A low-flying F-4 crashed Saturday during an air show at the Point Mugu Naval Air Weapons station, killing its two crew members, Navy officials said. F-16C..... MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — As about 85,000 spectators looked on at Mountain Home Air Force Base’s “Gunfighter Skies 2003†airshow Sunday, a jet in the Air Force’s Thunderbirds precision-flying team dove into the ground. The pilot of the F-16C, Capt. Chris Stricklin, ejected safely and was taken to a medical facility on base. F-14A....... On June 30, 1972, it crashed into the water while preparing for an airshow at Patuxent, killing test pilot Bob Millar, who had survived the crash of the first F-14. B-58..... Tragically, the crew was killed when their B-58 crashed on 3 June at the Paris Air Show I know you specifically said 'Paris Air Show' - but IIRC, the Russians have lost 3 aircraft at Le Bourget - a Tu-144 (overstressed when trying to avoid a French Mirage) a MiG-29 (birdstrike) and a Su-30MKI (disorientation - but probably pilot error). There is no monoploy on air crashes - and the Russians are no worse than anyone else.... Ken

Flankerman
I think its the same Flanker!!! Dick There are subtle differences - the Su-30KI has a centrally-mounted IRST - and as a result, the IFR probe is only semi-recessed.... The Su27SKM has an offset IRST - and a fully recessed IFR probe... But..... It COULD be the same airframe - the Su-30KI upgraded by Sukhoi into the Su-27SKM technology demonstrator - new avionics, new cockpit, IRST moved, new IFR probe - same paint scheme. richy
flanker, does that means that you can do easyly that "paris airshow" model with the trumpeter kit with low modifications...?
Flankerman
flanker, does that means that you can do easyly that "paris airshow" model with the trumpeter kitwith low modifications...? Dunno about Flanker - this is Flankerman............ No.................... well - with a bit of work... Just from memory, you would need a completely new cockpit.... Then you need to get Zactomans replacement canopy, replacement radome - and his forthcoming replacement intakes :- http://www.zactomodels.com/ Then you need to modify Zactomans resin windscreen parts - to remove the IRST balls. You need to scratch-build a new one - and its mounting platform - and fit it to the starboard side of the windscreen. Then add an In Flight Refuelling Probe - and a retractable light on either side of the cockpit/nose area to illuminate the IFR probe. Leave off the kit RWR aerials - on the sides of the intakes - and add a couple of new RWR aerials to the front of the leading edge slats. I think that's about all - Oh! - and you have to mix your own paints and provide your own decals. So - basically you first have to correct the Trumpeter kit - then the modifications are quite easy !!
