HGE
Hi everyone, I'm planning on going to the show and am looking forward to seeing the vendor tables. I've never been to one of these shows before so could you tell me if it is likly that I will be able to find a good selection of PE and resin parts ( 1/72nd scale ) and will the prices be generally the same ( as say from squadron) or higher or lower? Also will it be possible to buy Hasegawa kits? My local HS dosen't carry a great selection and I only do checks to mail order stores so it would be nice to pick stuff up there. Thanks, Henry I thought I might put a HGE on my shirt. for the show.. What a nerd my wife thinks I am! LOL
Skull Leader
I've never been to a national convention before, but I've been to a couple IPMS regionals. If nationals are anything at all like regionals (and all signs seem to point to it being BETTER), there will be more models of every make and sort than you can shake a very large stick at. aftermarket resin and decals of almost every sort. Some of the best model deals I've gotten were at vendor tables at IPMS regionals.
k5ikl
To put it simply, when you walk into the vendor area your jaw will drop, your mouth will start drooling and you will wonder "my God where do I start". For the first timer it will blow you away. And for sure, take plenty of cash, debit cards and credit cards. Enjoy yourself.... :D Jerry
AnthonyWan
What are my chances of finding a F-16DJ/-D Barak?

For the first timer it will blow you away. I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment. It really rises to the level of sensory overload at first.
Steve N
To give you an idea, here are some pics of the vendors room at last year's Nationals in Atlanta. Mind you, I used a wide-angle lens..the room was probably twice the size of a high school gymnasium... And as for Hasegawa kits.... When it comes to prices, many vendors are willing to haggle, and if you can wait, many offer deep discounts on the last day of the convention (so they don't have to pay to ship the stuff home.) Cheers! Steve
Dave Williams
What are my chances of finding a F-16DJ/-D Barak? Maybe. However they are not that impossible to find even outside of a Nats. They usually show up on eBay for example. Given how long you have been asking for one, I'm thinking you could have gotten one if you really wanted to by now. The -DJ is pretty simple now. Just get the reissued -D kit and and easily found later boxing of the -C kit (CJ/CG) and you have the -DJ. Add parts from Eagle Designs and a CE spine (if you can't find the ED set for the -D), and you have the Barak. The final element is the Isradecals decals, which have been reissued for the Barak. All the parts you need are out there, it's just a matter of spending the money. If you're holding out for someone to sell you the Hasegawa F-16D "Brakeet" kit for $20, that probably won't happen at the Nats either.
crazydon
Here's a listing of the vendors this year http://www.ipmsusa2006.org/VendorListing.php My suggestion as a seasoned Nats Vet...anything you "need" get the 1st day...if you think the price is good....otherwise you might miss out on it. Bargins will be there as you see them...I picked up stuff cheap every day I was at Hotlanta (first time I'd done all of a Nats as a shopper)...make a list of what you want going in.... deepstriker
They told me that the nats are the largest hobby store in the world but man....my bank account is shaking . I see 1/32 pcm macchi, aftermarket items, decals, 1/48 tanks flowing in my shopping bag. :D
HGE
I'm kinda shocked that list does not include Squadron :D I know it's going to be great! Some of the best work in the world to see :D My Dream hobby shope right there in front of me!! :D Makes me feel young again!!! Thanks for the replys guys!!
crazydon
I'm kinda shocked that list does not include Squadron Squadron does their own event during the summer ...also consider they have a new owner and he might not feel its worth it to go to the Nats with as man other vendors there selling stuff at better prices.. gkwan
I don't think Squadron vends at Nats. At least the 2 I have been to in the midwest they were not at.
Chuck1945
When the Nationals were held in Dallas (2000) Squadron was a vendor and also ran an open house. Other then that, nada. They have been involved with IPMS NCT's ScaleFest including an open house.
Recon
Is Meteor productions/cutting edge going to be at this Nationals? Mike
gkwan
No they are not going to be in KC. It is my understanding that they announced last year in Hotlanta that there were retiring from the show circuit.
Steve N
Wow...at all the Nats I've attended Meteor had more tables than anyone else. As for Squadron, they had a couple of tables at either Va. Beach in '02 or OKC in '03, but they were just selling some overstock and "scratch and dent" stuff (I still picked up a couple of good bargains, though.) Chuck1945
Umm, I didn't see Eagle Editions name on that list, ... Never mind, I found the answer checking Eagle Edition's web site Edited June 28, 2006 by Chuck1945

SBARC
Last year at Atlanta was my first Nationals......I spent the bulk of my time in the vendors room hour after hour, day after day.....I didn't make my first purchase until 30 minutes before the vendor room shut down. The size of the selection was overwhelming......I didn't have a clue where to begin......so I barely bought anything......it is very big. When I did finally begin buying stuff at the end....the selection was very poor. There is a line up to get in there the first day......to get the choice items....that are much sought after and in short supply. Steve Bamford

Steve Bamford I personally dont hold much hope of getting something rare...or large for that matter, because transporting it all back to NJ will be a problem :D Maybe just some resin sets/smaller kits/or one or two of those 'most wanted list' kits... Now you mention the line  oh boy...
